So Rolling Stone calls them the Radiohead of America, (however they look and sound more like Neil Young and Skynyrd) they are playing two sold out shows at the TLA this week, playing Conan in between those gigs, have multiple critically acclaimed albums, and I ask, where is Philly rock radio on a band that is getting bigger by the minute?

XPN is all over this band, and has been for years, but MMR and YSP??? A band straight up their alley yet not even a whisper of their big shows.

Last night at the Foo Fighters / Weezer show Dave Grohl mentioned twice that Philly has a "rock radio problem"...the sold out crowd went crazy when he first said it.

Here is an amazing shocker to me - last night in our ride to the show my wife told me that she likes WYSP's mix of music better than WMMR...now this is the same person that said she hated screaming music when it was on Y100...and on the ride home after the show last night WMMR was playing the song from the winner of the Rock Star INXS contest and she immediately flipped to WYSP so we could hear the "echo" for the show. I think my wife (29 years old) is starting to tune out WMMR.

WYSP - for chicks that rock?

Sadly, the only place you'll ever hear a group like this is a station like WXPN. They have been playing them for maybe 2-3 years now, and they just had their broadcast of the "Free at Noon" concert with MMJ. What a great band, they sound to me like a melding of the Byrds, Dead, Jayhawks and a little Phish thrown in. There dosn't seem to be a place on the WMMRs and YSP's of the world anymore for bands like this, which to me speaks about the sad state of commercial radio and the growing popularity of iPods and Satellite Radio.

BTW, I think I heard them in a Corona ad on TV, can anyone else confirm this?
