My music, my mix, my GOD they suck!

What station and where?

That would be 93.7 KTMT-FM, Medford, which has had seemingly numerous
format/moniker changes since Mapleton took over - along with many
personnel changes there and at their sister stations...

And now KTMT "My Mix 93.7" doesn't stream online anymore, either...

I would probably call it a "Hot Adult Contemporary" mix, for what it's worth...

heard them playing the jackson five - i want you back last night. that was bizarre! ??? And yesterday i heard tal bachman - she's so high into rod stewart's downtown train, into pokerface by lady gaga...come on now folks... ???

Jackson Five, "I Want You Back"...yes, that WAS bizarre, considering his death just one week later.

The "My" format has been building around the country in recent years, and I agree, it sometimes can come off as "WTF?".

However, it is a reasonable gameplan for many stations who are trying to find an identity in this cluttered radio world. If you can present a certain mix that relates to your target audience, then "my" works. It all depends on the execution of the format, and finding the right mix of titles. Not sure the station you mentioned is doing it right because I have not heard it. But there are stations that are doing this correctly, and perhaps while not killing it, doing OK.

Oh, and as an aside, Tal Bachman's "She's So High", surprisingly tests well in research studies.

"I Want You Back" is a 1969-1970 tune...unusual for a "My" station, I'd
think. And you're right, searadiofreak - the timing for that station to play
that tune is bizarre!...

The "My" station is Sacratormento (FM 92.5 KGBY) generally plays Rock
from the mid-1980s to today. Haven't heard anything prior to the Peter
'Sledgehammer' Gabriel era of music on KGBY, so I'm guessing the "My"
in Medford has a broader playlist compared to "My"-stations in bigger
markets...

And like many stations around the country with a similar sound, a monotone-
female voice back-announces all the tunes on "My 92.5"... ::)

Yes, the monotone female back-announce is part of this imaging. It does stand out as being different. I think that is the goal.

Check out My 99.5 out of Salt Lake. They do this format pretty well. Montone female...check. Colorful, creative local imaging...check. It works. (BTW, their mix leans heavily on adult-modern-alternative...1990-today)

Since this is a Medford post, Medford question for you. Are Larry and Brian still a team on KRWQ? They've been together for what, 20-25 years now?

Larry is still at KRWQ, going on 29 years in August! Brian is gone; Krista in his place:

My Mix 93.7 fared very little better in the Arb book released today:
Fall 2007: 4.2
Spring 2008: 2.8
Fall 2008: 1.4
Spring 2009: 2.3

Still good for 12th, but Mapleton's been having well-documented internal changes of late...

Apparently, John is gone at KTMT/My Mix, and Leslie is now flying solo, 7-10 a.m. (not 6-10 a.m.?)...

Wherefore art thou, John?

I heard it back in August, all I can say is that their playlist really is a Mix, a very random mix. I wish they could stream. BTW anyone know when the Fall 2010 Arbs come out?
