My Network TV in Seattle

Anyone know who may pick up the My Network TV affiliation in Seattle? I've heard that KTWB may pick it up, but there's also KONG and the shopping channels.
In many markets, the UPN/WB affiliate not selected to receive the CW is picking up My Network TV, but in San Francisco, independent KRON got it instead of WB affiliate KBWB.

If it goes to KTWB, do you think Fox will try to buy the KCPQ/KTWB combo; a purchase would create a FOX/MNTV O&O duopoly in the Seattle market.

Why would Tribune want to sell these stations? No, they don't have the CW in Seattle/Tacoma, but I would expect that this is still going to be a very profitable pair of stations for Tribune and not something that they'd want to part with. (And note that Tribune does own Fox affiliates in other markets, including Hartford, CT and Grand Rapids, MI)

Tribune has looked seriously at My Network here for KTWB. These dances are always complicated by issues in other markets, network comp plans and the politics we all know and love. So rational speculation is probably irrelevant. Fact remains, running a 'true' independent these days is very tough - there simply isn't enough good programming to go around.

Ironically, I was of the opinion that KSTW would have been wise to go without CW. They have the Mariners franchise and could have built a local sports TV station - not unlike sports radio. CW will give them some programs with decent numbers (can you hear the sales department sighing "FINALLY!"??)but let's face it, that model is cracking and offers a short window of opportunity.

We are less than 5 years from stations cherry picking programming from networks in the same way that radio cherry picks syndicated programming. When all the contracts expire and stations are paying 'reverse comp' (the station pays the network for programming - it's been the other way around since Farnsworth was a kid) the stations have no incentive to carry marginal programming.
