MY (OH MY) 92.9

What is going on with the Oracle Road crew? What started out as a promising re-birth, has certainly veered in the past few weeks.

Why the lane-changing format at 12 noon every day? I don't it. my92.9 launched so focused, and has been anything but that for quite a while now. It has become a hodge-podge Hot AC/ Rhyth AC/Lite CHR. Come on gang, keep it in a lane....any lane, just pick one.

And, once again, please fix the processing. The hissssss is VERY fatiguing. You can now Google setup recommendations for your 8400's. PLEASE set it and forget it.

Maybe the changing of the guard (GM) will bring some continuity to that building, Lord knows it needs it.

Sorry for the rant.

What is the deal with that frequency? COOL, Coyote, Mountain, My..whatever is next. Appears that it is doomed to fail.
For that matter what is the deal with that entire CC building?
Seems that if you want a carreer altering/ending experience, work there.
That is provided you aren't committed by a psychiatrist, when you tell all of the bizzare crap that goes on in there!
Bad Juju!!

What are you talking about? In today's time when MANY cities/markets have MANY stations that change quite frequently, you are complaining about 92.9? It was the Mountain just shy of 8 years and I wouldn't have called 8 years in today's radio corporate world a failure (despite the fact that I am not a fan of CC). In fact, SOME of the radio stations in Tucson have been around a little too long if you ask me.

No radio ratings expert but it seemed 92.9 enjoyed their best days as "cool oldies", I believe that format had the longest run. That Tucson doesn't have a true oldies station will forever irritate and puzzle the heck out of me. There must be money to be made, still, with that format.

25 - 54 is the prime age group for advertisers, followed by the ?? - 24 group.

If someone is 54, that means they were born in 1958.

If you're thinking of "cool oldies" as music from the '50s and 60's, this means you've completely bypassed the demographic you're aiming for. Add about ten to twelve years of age before people really "get it" music-wise for their generation.

I'm on the far edge of that demo curve - our *parents* listened to 50's music, we listened to 70's music & thought 50's revisited (think "Happy Days", etc.) was a passing fad.

....which is why 80's, 90's and now *might* work. :p

KLPX, KRDX, "The Groove" (whatever their official calls are now), KHIT on FM. Oh, and KMXZ on weekends.
KCEE, KGVY, and KTUC on AM. (Yes, I know that 'GVY has an FM now, but it really doesn't cover Tucson, just south of town.)

What do they all have in common?
On not one of them will you ever hear any current music.

How much "oldies" coverage does a market need?

If there is a gap to be filled in the genre, it would be for a "newer oldies" station to focus mainly on the years from the late '80s through the early '00s. That's all that's really missing.

It's pretty obvious from the ratings that KHYT 107.5 has become the defacto "oldies" station in Tucson. Hopefully they'll add more live talent.

Probably not, but has anyone heard the new afternoon "announcer" on My 92.9?
Urp Slop get the mop...clean up on isle 10! The smell of sawdust soaking up the mess!

I'll have to check him/her out to see if he/she is anywhere near as horrible as "Mrs. Grant" on 94.9 KMXZ. That is one woman who should not be allowed anywhere near a microphone!

Yet she is THE talent on the rise now doing live TV on KGUN.....funny like a heart attack but safe and vanilla for those who have nothing to watch on TV at 11:00 am. I've noticed my gold fish likes her..... ::)
