My oh my - WCTX

Apparently they've done it.. WCTX is to be the New Haven-Hartford My Network affiliate. http://wtnh.tv/blogs/index.php/wctx/2006/04/26/p163#more163I guess this is good for them, but I dreaded it happening. We don't need another duplication of WWOR.For the last 2 or 3 years we had to heard about UPN9 Connecticut's UPN station. This trumps the fact that WWOR UPN 9 existed since the mid 90s, as well as that WWOR channel 9 has been watched by viewers in Connecticut for 50+ years. Then comes WCTX 59 in New Haven calling itself UPN9 ... confusing, annoying, sneaky? You bet!I pray that WCTX doesn't again decided to copy WWOR and call itself "My 9" ... I pray to God, I really do. I hoped that by UPN going away, that WCTX would go back to using "59" - but now the My network has to come around.I can only hope two things:1) WCTX will call itself "My 59"2) The My Network will eventually fold and they'll go back to being 'The X' or 'WCTX' like in the past.I'm not against the station as I see some people on their blog site are, I just don't like them immitating the channel 9 (WWOR) that has been viewed for far longer in Connecticut homes.

Call me a dreamer.. haha.. but I think WCTX can do better as an independent, thanks to the pooling of resources with WTNH. Not to mention there are too many networks, in my opinion, and no one can go their own unique way anymore, like the former great independents WOR, WGN, WSBK, WPIX, etc. I'd rather see PAX shed a station like WHPX (if it was ever possible) to affiliate with the My Network.. like I said, I'm a dreamer.I just realized something ironic though. A few years ago, when WCTX went from the UPN-'X' logo to UPN9, they debuted a new website called http://www.MyUPN9.com. Kind of funny.

Is was actually in September 2005 that WCTX changed their on-air name to UPN 9. And what other web address could they have? UPN9.com belongs to the original UPN 9 WWOR. If you notice that website myupn9.com links to channel 8's site as the previous wctx.com did as well. You want Channel 26 to give up PAX/i and go with the MY Network? Currently as PAX/i Channel 26 has 35 hours of network programming a week and they show infomercials the rest of the day. The MY Network is only gonna program 10 hours per week. So what do you want PAX/i with 35 hours of network programming per week along with 133 hous of infomercials/religious programming the rest of the week or The MY Network with 10 hours of network programming per week and 158 hours of infomercials/religious programming the rest of the week?I'd like to see Channel 26 get sold and become and independet station, perhaps showing some of the old sitcoms/dramas that aired on Channel 59 when Channel 59 first signed on in 1995.

They couldn't just keep the same address www.wctx.com which I might add still works. Only problem it has not been updated and images don't show up.As for WCTX 59 going My good for them more power to them. Just don't go My 9 like the other poster said. We already have My 9 over in NYC. Go with My 59 or My Conn. If WCTX did go independet I would say go 59 The X.
