MY PRO-FM HOT 106 THEORY

Anyone see yesterday's blurb on allaccess.com? I don't feel like logging in again but it's about them building a morning hip hop show and inviting people to apply if they think they know what part they can play in it. Very general not naming jock, sidekick, producer, etc. Looks like they're looking for a cast of characters.

My theory: they had to replace Da Breakfuss Club in a hurry. Kerry was the quickest way to do it unless they used Austin. Now with a new PD on board they're hiring. Kerry's going back to PRO-FM nights. This was never going to be permanent. They have J-Buff for the summer and since he's more than capable of holding down the fort, no loss on PRO-FM's end while this is going down.

Kerry's a good standard CHR jock. Not a hip hop personality. Once Hot hires, he's back nights on PRO-FM. This was the plan from the beginning and not a bad one but that's my take. And it's only a theory.
 
Not a bad theory, the only thing that might throw a monkey wrench is that the $$ Kerry is making doing mornings vs nights. I believe that when this was originally done, it was a permanent change; but then something happened behind the scenes that made Corporate switch out Tony & Davey for Dan Hunt (I think that's his name). We'll see what surfaces over the next few months
 
oooorrrrrrr MAYBE the plan was to build an entire new show on HOT and KC was the first part of the puzzle. ;D

Oh you may be right and you probably are but when I see an ad for a "hip hop show" it just sounds to me like they're talking about more than just the music. Hip hop and R&B as a format is more than just the music. I know it's basically just another version of CHR radio but the mentality is different and HOT hasn't had the mentality for quite a while if they ever had it. That's why I thought Kerry might be a temporary fix until they get a crew in there with the bling and the do-rags.
 
HOT 106 Morning show, right now SUCKS ! Very Boring! The Breakfus Club, was alot better than whats on Hot 106 Right now.

Ed, I'm not a rally big fan of hip-hop, more of R&B, but I do like old school hip-hop. Anyway, I thought Ramiro and Pebbles on Jam'n 94.5 were always the best as far as hip-hop morning shows in this area. I could do without the Hollywood gossip, but I love the Jam Scams. What do you think of Jamn's morning show? Instead of investing in morning show, Hot 106 should put their money to good use getting a much better signal or moving the tower so they actually can be heard in the east end of Johnston and the west end of Providence without static on a car radio or heard at all on a walkman on portable radio. Hot 106 should be embarrassed that Jam'n has a better signal in those areas.

I Like Jamn Morning Show ( Dont Like Jamn small Playlist ). I would love to see Hot 106 get a better signal . I dont know if the owners of hot 106 ,tried to get 103.7, few years back, when 103.7 was on sale , But Hot 103.7 would had been Great . I dont know why Rock ( or any other music format ) didnt work in 103.7 , R.I. Big Killa Signal ( East of Hartford,South and west of Boston , And All over R.I. )

Dan Hunt is PD and MD but they were looking for another MD to replace Davey Morris. As far as why they hired someone opinion on here is that Bristol was programming too many stations and it was time to take some of the load off. Now let's see if they live up to the word "new" other than a new morning and midday show.
