My recent trip to SA

KTFM sounds like it's stuck in 2001. Seems like all 80s music is gone, very few 90s, as well as very few currents, but a lot of CHR rhythmic from the early 2000s??? I though they were going top 40 and all they have are a few new songs? The music selection sounds like the stuff they play at the Bhonam Exchange? That and their banners are all over the club. Maybe they are targeting the GLBT community? I'm just more confused about this station than ever. They should have done something like HOT 957 in Houston and just do all currents.

Seems like Mix has gone from a rhythmic CHR back to pop CHR. Sounds more lisenable now. BTW someone is turning ten years old real soon.

Beat is still lame playing a lot of last year's stuff and very few songs from this year. Power sounds like it lost some of its energy and are trying to be a copycat of The Beat.

Q 1019 sounds like Hot AC. An 80s weekend? Didn't Magic do those before?

Speaking of, Magic still sounds tragic.

I still prefer KONO over K-Hits.

Not enough new stuff on either country stations. Still hear the same ol' Gone Country stuff in heavy rotation.

KLTO & KISS sound EXACTLY THE SAME.

How come not every comm station has RDS??? (KZEP)

last but not least....WHAT ARE ALL THESE STUPID LOW POWER RELIGIOUS STATIONS DOING? not just SA but in Luling where 101.7 obliterates 101x.

KTFM is Rhythmic Adult Contemporary. SA doesn't need another Top 40 station.

I'm not understanding you. You don't like the format however; you went out to a GAY club to listen some more???? Ummm ok. Please go back to Houston and complain about how much you want a Rock station on that board.

IMO, SA radio seems to have a good variety of formats which other cities tend to lack.

heh,
well anyway San antonio has great radio for just about anyone now. I hope it continues this way.
2 good Rock stations
a good classic rock
a good top 40,
Q 1019 sounds better than Sunny.
98.5 sounds better than the box
Jack sounds better than Jack
The AM talk selection is decent also.

I never said I didn't like the format, and if KTFM is promoting in the GLBT community, well then congrats to them for making a ballsy move in a conservative military city. Besides, the gays know how to have fun and you don't have to worry about getting shot up or stabbed at The Bhonam. Plus the drink specials are much better than most downtown venues AND the guys know to back off because I'm straight (Lots of straight guys and girls frequent the club). I'm just confused on what direction KTFM is going.

I will be back in Houston complaining about a good rock format. 945 the buzz sucks!

I agree on the rock stations, both modern and classic. Sunny plays wayyyyy too much disco and Marvin Gaye. Will have to disagree on the beat vs. box, and both Jacks sound roughly the same, just that our Jack is on a crummy (Beaumont) signal. Also agree on the AM band as well, though it's kinda cool to listen to the asian stations on the AM band.

By broadcasting at the Bonham Exchange doesn't mean they're promoting GLBT agenda. It just means that the BX paid for KTFM to broadcast from there. I've been to the Bonham on Saturday nights when KTFM broadcast from there and the crowd seems to be more straight than gay. There's definitely more females than males. San Antonio might be Military USA but there's also about 18 gay clubs/bars and some of those also advertise on Mix 96.1 and The Beat. In the past both KTFM and Mix 96.1 have participated in previous San Antonio Gay Parades. So I seriously doubt this is an issue with people in SA.

well if i am some starving sales guy in need of some cash I'd take the BX's money all day. aside from my joke that got posted in TAKE IT OUTSIDE i think KTFM and KXXM are opening to a market that barely anyone touches. good for them.

haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

lol hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

seriously, cash is green no matter where it comes from and a listener is a listener reguardless of lifestyle.

I completely agree with you. Mix 96.1 and KTFM both still target females but they have both been able to attract the gay community of SA. Besides, with the economy being in the --------, what other group is going to have more $$$ to spend than the gay community?

No, no, no, no, no, no Hell no.

Comm'n jras, are you serious? The Box is one of th few Hip-Hop stations that has stuck with the format. No Justin Timberlake, Fergie, and those other bubblegum rap artist.

Although I have noticed that KPTY in Houston has started to change a bit. Maybe KBBT follows? Who knows, but there is no way KBBT is better than KBXX, No way, I have to listen in order to believe it. I'll be back in B/CS in a week. Just hope the right conditions kick in for me to hear it. I really find it hard to believe that KBBT is better than KBXX now.

I would have to agree. A true urban wont play Fergie. She is NOT a R&B artist, she is a pop artist.

Timberlake cooooooooooooooould maaaaaaaaaaaybe get away with it depending on if a hip hop artist is on the same record. Solo? No way.
Example: MY LOVE

BUT! At the same time, Urban stations should stop playing Timbaland too. Hes bubble gum pop weather you agree or not.

I miss the good ol days when Timbaland and Magoo made real Hip Hop. Now Timbaland is reduced to major rotation on most if all top 40 stations round the country. From a music standpoint ehhhhh. But from a financial standpoint CHA CHING!!!!

Oh and my personal opinion.... KBBT will NOT follow suit. I will cross my fingers from a Hip Hop fan point of view but realisticly I dont see it.

Power?? hmmmmm

Power 106.7 #1 for Hip Hop.... heres Fergie.

Ummmmm.... no.

Didn't The Boxx also have Sexy Back by Justin on rotation?

Ah yes they did, I was going to bring it up along with the fact that KBXX has Linkin Park on occasion as well. What is that doing on a Hip Hop station? Also, SA's Jack sounds better than Houston's Jack? Maybe if you are talking about signal strength. Houston's Jack sounds more like Dallas' Jack with a broad spectrum of songs from all decades. Last time I was in SA, 102.7 Jack relied heavily on Classic Rock. Maybe that has changed in the last few months. Agree with Ol' Johnny about KPTY, although with it now coming in from Port Arthur instead of Downtown Houston there chances of ever being competitive with KKHH or KBXX is slim and none, and slim packed the bags in the move from 104.9 to 93.3. I still fail to see the logic in the move. 104.9 has changed direction twice since Party left. How was that beneficial for Univision? BTW, let's not muddle up this board with all the Houston has no rock station postings. There's enough of that, of which I've contributed to, on our board. :D
