Your post condemning me and others is garbage. Joe V. is clearly a moderator. In fact, you may be Joe V. for all we know. You could be his PR rep judging by the lauditory things you've said about him today. All of which deserve a hearty chuckle when read. They ring the ear like the fiction Joe V. writes about himself. Regardless, you're the child in this scenerio. Joe attacks people all the time. Your attempt to spin that is insulting, so shame on you. Joe is small person, bitter, hateful, failed. He has nothing "clever" to offer any discussion. This feeds his victim complex and sure we fell for it again. This room, the Boston room, is the Joe V. room, has been for a couple years. Realizing now that he's a moderator, I suppose we've all fallen for it.

I'm actually Bob Nelson; Vig is on vacation.

Intercomm99 came on this board for one reason: to attempt to neutralize legitimate criticism that Paul Yovino and myself have made - comments on how poorly WRKO is run. That is opinion.

Intercomm99 is libel incarnate. And he's been reported to the Editor. As well as to Jason Wolfe.

What "fiction", Intercomm/Rich Carberry? What fiction? That the BBC hired me to talk about one of the most important songs of the past century? That VH-1 interviewed me regarding Doug Fieger of The Knack,
Rick Springfield, The Go Gos, and a number of other artists I can't even remember?

That my music was played on WBCN in 1972 and 1973, probably before you were born?

That I've performed in Paradise 49 times - opening for Peter Noone's Tremblers, Pat Travers, The Lords of the New Church with Stiv Bators, Luna with Rick Berlin, Extreme when they were The Dream, the very first show by Black Flag (probably with Henry Rollins), that GG ALLIN and Mission of Burma opened for me? That
"fiction"

Or that I've written for The Boston Globe and had profiles on my band in the music section of the Globe for decades. That fiction, Rich/Intercomm99? Or that my "Separated At Birth" with Howie Carr & Eddy O'Brien appeared in the Boston Sunday Herald in 1997? That "fiction"?

Or that I've had numerous releases in Paris and all of Europe, four albums and tons of music on compilations over there, the most recent a couple of years back? That "fiction"?

Or that WBCN sponsored my second and fourth shows in Paradise in 1978 and 1979, and Tony Berardini went ballistic when WCOZ sponsored my fifth show - starting the trouble with those thin-skinned "public figures" who didn't want to see me splash WAAF or WCOZ or WMBR on my promo. Oh well. That "fiction" which is pretty much recorded history.

Or that my records sell for big bucks, as WAAF's Carmelita recently noted, when someone in California offered her big money for records on my label. An Entercom jock was offered big bucks for records on my label.
That "fiction" INtercomm? Get a life...or better still, get back into your Not-So-Swift Boat.

Your post fails to meet the Terms of Agreement. You should be banned if the Moderator wants to abide by those TOAs. Proof I'm not moderator - you would've been banned weeks ago.

Cable television host Joseph Viglione launched his Visual Radio Television show nine years ago in Woburn. He has lined up some pretty impressive interviews along the way, which number 300 now and have aired in many local towns. Virgin Airlines founder Richard Branson, singers Judy Collins and Suzanne Vega, performance artist Laurie Anderson, ''Mystic River" author Dennis Lehane, professor Stephen Hawking, and band members from The Doors, Grand Funk Railroad, The Rolling Stones, The Cars (Greg Hawkes), and The Jefferson Starship, are just a sample of the notables Viglione has had on his show. Viglione writes for All Media Guide and is working on a book about Lou Reed's 1973 Rock 'n' Roll Animal Tour.

p.s. my one regret with Visual Radio? That I didn't interview my friend Ben Orr. Ben invited me up to Vermont to do the interview; his band had me tape many of his live shows, including a great one in front of 16,000 people at Government Center, but we didn't do the Ben Orr interview.

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.................................

You can't open up a Boston thread on these boards without getting Varulven's resume.

Black Flag's 1st two shows in Boston were with Dez Cadena "singing" and there was no opener at their debut in Boston at Spit.

Richard "Carberry" hasn't been an Entercom employee for over a year, so emailing a man that was never his boss anyway is kind of loony.

If you're gonna make things up, please google your "facts" first, OK?

Well, Pug Ugly, I don't know who the singer was in Paradise, but I believe their first show was Paradise, not
Spit. Of course if you are Oedipus, you would know, so I stand corrected. The Count opened for Black Flag in Paradise and my back-up band was THE BAGS. The band was Half Count/Half (in the) Bags! HA Technically, I'm still correct. It was their FIRST Paradise Show and it was "probably Henry Rollins."

So if it was Henry Rollins it wasn't their "first show". Like my boss at North American Media said, I've forgotten more than most people will ever learn. Glad you were in the audience - I was onstage!

I posted this before seeing the earlier post.... in any case, Flag's first Boston show with Rollins was at Streets in late '81. As Pug said, before that, they played Spit with Dez on vocals. I have a flyer that says they were playing Spit instead of the Rat because "the bouncers s*ck." I don't recall them playing the Paradise... but it definitely wasn't with Rollins. After Streets, they played all their shows at the Channel.

carry on...

Sonic Al - Black Flag definitely played The Paradise. I have the show on tape, at least my performance, and the date on the cassette.

They played Paradise with Dez singing.

John Belushi was there.

Him, I remember. Viglione, no.

Yeah, but no one would sleep in John Belushi's Bungalo at the Chateau Marmont until the late Jimmy Miller went to the hotel. He was the first person to stay in Belushi's bungalo after the O.D. He was with Spencer Davis at the time. We went back out there in 1986 and Miller and his girlfriend smashed up the hotel room on my Amex card. Oh well, oh love oh frustrating love... So are you saying Belushi saw The Count in Paradise? Or did you and he skip my show to have a drink next door, Johnny/Pug?

I think the Moderator has an excellent handle on this discussion board - far better than in its previous and now failed incarnation.

As the Moderator noted if you are in Radio in any public form you are a public figure and therefore subject to both praise and criticism.

The talk stations in this city are a greater target because they on most ocassions aim at both hot button issues and the lowest common denominator.

What becomes obvious to many who post here is that the "suits" at these stations don't like to be criticized but only praised.

For this poster I will praise when appropriate and criticize when necessary. If the egos of the talent or suits are bruised it just comes with their pay checks.

Again, we are fortunate to have an enlightened Moderator. :)

Intercomm99, you have offered nothing to this forum except to say that Joe is "a small person, bitter, hateful, failed". And to attack me in the process. What have you done that is so much better, more successful than Joe, and why does it matter? You cannot come on here and criticize the way you do without showing YOUR credibility. I think the intelligent readers are able to determine who is spinning who. Joe is somewhat forced to constantly list his "resume and portfolio" because you constantly say he is nothing. From what I read, I see credibility in Joe's posts because he has told us where he has been ad what he has done, but nothing but attacks in yours. That's not to say he always right, and it doesn't mean I agree with his opinion. But that is what this forum is for: discussion and friendly debate, not an all out verbal assault on people you don't like. Leave it up to the individual readers to determine if Joe is for real or a fraud. You have given nothing by way of debate to indicate he is not a credible source of information. Period.

You are trying to tell the readers Joe is nothing because he didn't "make it" in Boston Radio. Why does one have to be successful in Boston Radio to have any credibilty to begin with? Do any of the newspaper writers lack credibility when they criticize Boston Radio if they have not done their time behind a mic? What about John Doe on the street, no on air experience at all, who has a high opinion of his favorite rock jock? Shouldn't he be discreditted too, because he doesn't know what he is talking about either? I mean, play fair here. If someone likes what you like, they automatically get kudos, regardless of their experience, but someone with decent industry knowledge comes along and disagrees with you, or criticizes that jock, but you place him in a "a small person, bitter, hateful, failed" catagory? There's spin there somewhere....

We all garner our life experiences in different ways and places. We bring what we have learned to the table and if we are generous, share our experiences with others. That is life. The fact that you are vehemently (pardon any misspellings) against Joe tells me that you feel slighted by his criticisms. You know what? We will all die one day and it won't matter. Why is this such a mountain to you?

You say Joe has nothing "clever" to offer any discussion. I have read more entertaining posts from him, than I have from you. As Joe has stated, your MO seems strictly to discredit him. How is that entertaining? How about you give a reason other than he is "a small person, bitter, hateful, failed". How about some meat behind those posts. Is he lying about who he has interviewed? Is he lying about where he's been published? Is his writing style bad? Come on... stop with the "a small person, bitter, hateful, failed" routine! Provide some proof, something referencable as he has. That is what proves whether one is credible or not.

You say he was fired in '87 or something to that effect. I don't see him crying about it. I see him showing others that you can make something of yourself without having to follow the beaten path. In other words, there's more than one way to success. Why can't you accept that? Your personal opinion of Public Access may be that it is worthless. There are others here that will disagree with you. You are entitled to think that Joe's accomplishments don't mean anything, just as he is entitled to think that Neanderpaul's experiences don't add up to much. But you know what? Neanderpaul's experiences are HIS...it's HIS life journey. He is making what he wants of it...Joe's experiences are HIS....it's HIS life journey. And he is making what he wants of it. And you are on your journey, and I am on mine. We all decide for ourselves what we deem to be worthy. What I consider to be a valuabel place to be in my life, may not be the same for you. Maybe for you the only way to be someone in radio is to have worked at a top rated Boston station. I can tell you that there are over 10,000 other stations where people have worked and have found success. Not everyoe has, because everyone's definition of success is different, and you can't fault people for having different goals in life. We don't all want to be like you. There may be some who do...and that is good for them. No fault there, unless you truely are a bad person, which I highly doubt.

Joe does have something to offer, as I'm sure you do, if you get past your dissatisfaction with Joe's definition of what is successful, even if it is only for him! Joe takes people to task. That's what critics do. That's what good talk hosts do too. He has a different medium to express himself and his point of view. Take the criticism, make yourself better...you can also ignor the criticism. No one said you had to listen (or read, in this case).

Thanks for the thoughts but you ARE Joe V. so should I laugh or cry at the absurdity?

I just re-read your post "Editor." You're either Joe or his soul.

for those not paying attention, read the "Editors" post and ask yourself if any impartial person would write such a thing. Joe V. is not only the moderator he's the editor too. It's also possible that Paul Y. is the "Editor." Which would make even more sense. Come on gents out yourselves.

No, I am neither of those. And he is not the moderator. I suggest one more read through...Why is it hard to accept that people disagree with you, and those who disagree must be the same person? I don't begrudge anyone who disagrees with me. I grew up in a free country. Some people like chocolate, others like vanilla ice cream (no racial comments here...this is an analogy). Does that mean they cannot agree that cherries are the best fruit?

People are people, as Depeche Mode sang. Is it not possible anymore to have a disagreement yet still sit down for a drink, or share a meal, or post a message on a message board and realize that our differing opinons are what make the world go round? And that we all must compremise at some point, otherwise we are like spoiled children who never let anyone else pick first?

I read it, wow.

A love letter to Viglione and a chastising of Intercomm99.

That isn't what a board moderator exists for--they point out infractions and remind one of the rules, not some psuedo-Kahlil Gibran soapy philosophizing.

A bunch of whackjobs now has our information.

This truly sucks.

Thanks again for the thoughts Paul (proxy for Joe) it's quite something that the good folks at radio-info have given you the keys to this car.

I dont think you can pretend that Varulven is not being cut a lot of breaks I said if his resume is believed then he's a public figure and criticizing him should be allowed like you allow him to do to others everytime he posts something. I dont like him keeping track of how many posts I make. You ask what does it matter if he does or does not work in Boston radio? I ask what does it matter how many times somebody has posted? You are letting him set the rules and if he is the public figure in Europe or wherever he is open to ridicule too not that I want to but you protect him and lecture the rest for the same things he keeps doing. So Ill ask again does he have a stake in the board some way?. When so many posters have problems with one poster how do you blame the group?.
