MY RI TV WNAC 64.2 not on Directv

Does anyone know why DIRECTV is not carrying WNAC D2 and WJAR D2 ? I called directv and they said they had no plans to carry these stations and WNAC never responded to my e-mail which they normally do.Are they in negotiations and that why I may not have recieved a reply

Cox and Verizon carry these stations.

I don't believe DirecTV carries multicast channels for any station.

That's the feeling I got from Directv when I called. I told the rep to tell there bosses that they need to get on the ball because this is not good customer service when you are not carrying local stations when the cable companies are.

I had Directv for 4 years and don't recall them ever carrying subchannels. But most of their receivers have antenna inputs so if you can get the channel OTA you should be ok.

There is no "must carry" requirement of digital sub channels. They are subject to negotiation.
There's no way you'll see them on DirecTV any time soon due to bandwidth limitations.

As for cable, any digital sub-channels are carried likely as part of the retransmission consent agreement between the cable operator and broadcaster.

I get more local channels now that I don't have cable than I did with cable. I canceled because I got sick of paying $50 bucks a month for a bunch of sh*t that I didn't watch. Now I get 30 crystal clear channels in full HD and I don't pay a dime. The cable company can go suck an egg.

I don't believe DirecTV carries digital subchannels, and I actually don't think AT&T U-verse does either, from what it looks like. Comcast and Cox don't usually carry any of the Ion subchannels, though Verizon does. But interestingly enough, Comcast carries the local Ion HD feed, but Verizon does not.

HA HA! ;D I refuse to pay for cable. Verizon FIOS has to be the most over-hyped ripoff I have ever heard of. And there's another one of their annoying "regular cable is the bad guy" commericals playing every time I look at the TV. My mother is always asking me how I get free HD.
The only downfall without Cable is that I can no longer get ESPN HD. :-X

I was thinking of getting cable back just for the holidays. It's kind of nice to have a better selection of channels around family time. But it's definitely not a priority. It might not even happen. I just renewed my Sirius radio account today. They gave me 5 months for $20. Only 4 dollars a month. Now THAT is a Good Value. The $24.95 I pay for DSL internet..... Also a good value. However $50 plus dollars a month for crap I don't watch is NOT a good value. Especially seeing that even when I do have cable I mostly watch the Network affiliates anyway. Exactly the same thing I now get for Free. Except with cable I only get the affiliates from one market. But with Free over the air programming I get affiliates from TWO different markets! I also don't have to worry about losing all my channels when cable goes out. Don't have to be concerned with the cable company screwing with my channels and I don't have to pay a bill either. There is something very nice about not being a slave to the cable company. In more than one sense of the word... It feels very FREE!

It will show up on 514 when it does.

Why would Directv add a local channel at ch. 514 and break up the the Premium Block and 514 is Cinimax west.It would be placed somewhere in the 02-69 range fed off the 119 satalite like the other providence locals

He was talking about FIOS, not DirecTV.
