My story on Kidd Chris

Amazing lack of posting about this new show on R-I. Maybe everyone is like me and didn't even realize he had started already at Project.
Why do so many stations start a new morning show or format without spending a nickle to promote it? It seems so many start as "10,000 in a row" launches, which might have been innovative the first 1000 times it was done....but is now such a lame statement. Is that really a postioner that will gain you immediate attention and lasting cume? Management needs to think "Power Pig." Something other than "more of the same." And then do what they tell every other business to do.....advertise!
I remember when Susquahanna lauched Q100.....from the git-go the jocks were all there, the imaging was finished and focused, and there was a huge media blitz to get the buzz going. Susquahanna did quality radio and did it right from the first day!
I'm still in the demo (although just barely) and no one told me he was on the air! Doesn't bode well for Kidd Chris if this is the kind of support Ms. Forrest plans on providing........

Susquehanna made money, too. I don't see Clear Channel setting the woods on fire here at least. Which, I suppose, means 'anything's an improvement'.

The lyrics to the song that got him fired are more than controversial, they're downright offensive. It makes me sad that people are making a living off that kind of ignorance.

The irony of this hire is that Kidd Chris is a big fan of - and one would argue, his career partially inspired by - Howard Stern... whose show was never heard in Atlanta. It'll be interesting to see what the ratings read will be on this show.
