My Take on Austin Radio

...and now the stations of the ATX

(Up and down 35, some stations from Austin are not that strong, so here is what I heard)

Hot 93-3: How strong is this station in Austin? I liked what I heard, sounds like a big market station,IMHO
Mix 94.7 :The "new sound" is ok, but personally liked the old Modern AC sound better, it was better b/c it was a "different" sounding Mix station.....now not so much....
Majic 95.5: I know why they are doing so well, this station sounds like a good oldies station in a market with w/o a real one. A great AC.
KHFI 96.7-I can stand calling them "Kiss FM". A good station but they make it obvious that they speed up some songs, heck, it may be all of them....
KASE 101-This what I listened to most of the time while around the area, I liked it
101 X-One of my faves, and still is
103.5 Bob FM-I think this is a good variety hits station, I even like the Bob liners.....
The Beat 104-9: Sounds like they are prepared to stay the #2 hip hop station, they don't sound like they are trying to be #1
Jammin 105-9:They have ruined that station, it is on life support........
KGSR-Same old KGSR-Quirky but good

Hot 93.3 sounds like a copy of 106.7 from SA..
Mix 94.7 plays good music but The DJ's got to go. What is Playing Song A-Z? For Lunch Time.
Majic 95.5 is great Station plays good but Deliah I think is killing it from hitting its peak. It needs a location DJ FOR NIGHT.
KISS 96.7 is great I love most of the Music. Great Morning Show... But if it goes to all the hits... I think Better station.
KASE..101 Sounds like 98.1 I think They need a change... Of Music.
101x... Ok... But they play anything... Which isn't good to my ears.
103.5 is looking for a new style. He has changed his music a lot...
104.9 What Can I say If it plays more music and more of the known Artist This is The Number 1 Hip Hop Station.

105.9 is great... I love the Music. No DJ just music... Its great to listen to..
107.1 I don't even stop to listen unless its a good song.

Top 3 25-54

- Majic 95
- Bob FM (tied)
- KLQB 104.3 (tied)

Top 3 18-34

- KLQB 104.3
- Kiss FM
- Hot 93.3

I don't think Jammin' is long for the world, but not because of Mega. The station is going to be sold, and I doubt the new owners will keep it.

While I haven't heard the Mega on 103.5-2, if it's like Mega 93.3, it won't do much. Pure dance radio gets killed almost everywhere it's tried.

They don't sound like mega did, they are more like BPM on XM, if not better in my opinion.
