Thanks to IKE :
, I made the unplanned trip to New Braunfels to evacuate. I was there for about a week and got a feel for the radio there. Now most of these stations I do know being that I have family in both SA and Austin, as well as my evac location, so I remember the "old days".......here is what I thought of these stations these are from SA:
SA:
92.9-KROM Not a spanish speaker but I would guess that it is at least a better stronger alternative to the weaker La Ley.
94.1-KTFM (HA HA) Every one and I mean EVERY one has had their $.02, on this one, well here's mine....Definitely NOT KTFM, not much for personality to me, unlike the old KTFM 102.7. There is no energy there. The music, however I do like. It is different, and does sound like the playlist that the old KTFM would have. What everyone should remember that KTFM, to me, always sounded all over the place, however it is because it worked then. No 98.5, 106.7 or a stable 96.1......Bottom line:Like the format, wish it would land on KLOL in here in Houston, but sounds real "dead" personality wise. And The Woody Show, I don't know if it actually helps matters....
96.1-Mix 96.1 KXXM-This was a fav of mine 5 years ago, was more rock based with no real "Alternative rock" station in SA. Listened to it on and off, this time.
97.3-KJ97-I like the variety they play, and like the sprinkles of Texas Music that I heard, for those who can get 92.5 The Outlaw.....lol
97.7-KLTO(?)-97-7 Rock has a great sound music wise.....I can't believe that this station belongs to Univision!! But the Liners and Imaging really sound amateurish.....
98.5-The Beat KBBT-Reminds me of a "focused" version of Houston's Party 93.3. To me it is better than 106.7
99.5-KISS-We need this in Houston, a great rock station, 'nuff said
100.3-Y100-They sound good to me, unfortunately they picked up the bad habit of counting commercials from KJ, just like sister station 93Q does to KILT in Houston, very annoying....
101.1-KONO-They didn't need to add the .1 to KONO 101....Always a fave of mine and happy to say still is. Sounds like a very likable Classic Hits station, compared to there sister station K-Hits in Houston, KONO blows thems away, and K-Hits sounds too much like a Classic Rock station, and now is a throw away station...
101.9-Q 101.9-Very disappointed with them. They sound like they replaced Magic as the Hot AC. SA now needs an AC station. There voice-tracked personalites do not fit the format. They should listen to KODA in Houston or KKMJ in Austin.
102.7-Not much to say about Jack, except I heard a Pat Green song on, which is kind of an "oh,wow" song b/c Jack in Houston doesn't. And I didn't hear many Jack liners, BMP needs to remember that this is a JACK station, liners is what makes Jack, Jack.
104.5-KZEP-UGH, starting to sound like a Clear Channel station........
105.3-Magic sounds better that what I remember it sounding like. But should look to going AC, because Jack and Q 101.9 will take from them
106.7-Power 106.7-At least it is an alternative to 98.5....
107.5-KXTN-Another Fav, still sounds great. "20 years strong, Tejano and Proud, KXTN 107.5" Sounds like a mouthful to say......
Austin stations will be on a separate post.....
