My Take On The Entercom Fiasco

You're right...1090 did do badly. Personally, I think there were two reasons behind this.

1. The classic country fans were not happy losing their station. I imagine they're still not...I know KMPS has brought the format back on its HD signal, but how many people actually have HD capable radios???

2. Other than Sporting News Radio (which KRKO was also airing at the time), and the Bob Rivers show, I don't think ANY of their talk programming was live. Call me crazy, but that makes a difference on a talk station...I think that's why KTTH isn't doing so hot over all; other than mornings and Rush, it's all on tape delay. If it were all, or mostly, live, I think the "Extreme" or Buzz talk format could do well on AM...Though I agree with many here, it is better suited for FM. But, until we figure out how to pull The Mountain off the air, I don't think we'll see FM talk for a while. I don't know, maybe KLSY could flip. LOL

Re: Leykis + Hendrie = Bad Idea

No kidding...Hendrie was funny the first two times I heard him, but his immitated guests get old after about five minutes. Honestly, I'd rather listen to Smooth Jazz or something than that pile of crap. Phil is awful, and I'm glad he's not on in Seattle anymore...I'd love to see XM drop him as well and put something decent in his place...Really, if they'd dump that WHOLE "Extrem Talk" 152 line-up, except maybe David Lawrence, and reprogram it, it could be a good station. I know someone on this board mentioned a few months back that WW1 doesn't allow its programs to by syndicated to satellite, but if they could dump/shorten The Philips File and dump Hendrie, they could throw Tom on live during that slot and really help the channel out.

Tom has said that regardless of WW1 policy, he doesn't want a terrestrial-based show to be heard on satradio. Why not is anyone's guess. As his audience unfortunately dwindles now, he'd lose a lot more by going to XM or Sirius, where talk is an afterthought and the 1.7mil Sirius subscribers is about what he's cuming now nationally... if every Sirius subscriber listened to him.

Leykis + Hendrie + ACR = ???
