Like others posted, Philly is not a big urban town like other east coast cities. The Rock and Country stations are always up and the urban formats are down, this area cannot support all these urban formats, and the ratings speak for themselves, over and over. Solution; one Full Time Active and one Full Time Alternative Rocker needed, ASAP.

The REAL Reason for all the urban stations

It's a simple equation...Radio= money. Station owners don't give a frog's fat ass if the entire population of a particular area on the map is served equally.

It's about ADVERTISING and who will pay the most $$$$ to advertise their products. Ratings do matter, but what it really comes down to is WHO IS THE BIGGEST SUCKER? i.e. Who can we dupe into believing they NEED our product?

Hmmmm....Do I dare draw the race card? Yep. Black people make up what...about 15% of the Delaware Valley? But let's see how many stations they have:

Wired 96.5
WDAS
Power 99
100.3 The Beat
107.9. FM
The "I hate white people AM Talker"

And maybe I missed one or two.

The ad agencies target the dumbest demographics because THEY KNOW that these are the folks who will SPEND SPEND SPEND whatever money they have on their products.

Advertisers last year DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH OUTLETS onto which they could advertise. The suits at Y100 were smart enough to cash in on this fact. That's why there are now only about three so called "Rock" Stations to serve the 18-54 white demographic in this market but there are five or six urban stations to serve only 15% of the Delaware Valley population.

Don't get mad at me. I'm just the messenger.

The 3 most expensive stations in the market (spot wise) are B101, KYW and WDAS...one of the most expensive individual shows in the market is Stern...the least expensive stations are WRDW, WPHI and WRNB (non Joyner). Supply and demand my brother, not color of skin or level of intelligence.

Aren't you and KlassiKKountry late for some sort of clan meeting?
