Wow, Sly Douglas was great! RIP to a great Mix DJ! I did hear a story once about Sly going out to take a smoke break one night and locking himself out of the station.
Why do you say RIP regarding Sly. Isn’t he still around?
A mutual friend told me Sly was working in the Spartanburg, SC area in a Lowe's and passed years ago. Sorry, don't have any other details. Sly also had a good DJ mixer friend DJ Foote that lived in the Gastonia, NC area, but haven't heard anything from him in a long time. I used to own a DJ record store in Charlotte, so knew most of the DJs.
Sly was huge in Charlotte in the earlly 90s, a great person to work with...
No love to Ushay or Dr. Rock. Both got their start on KNOK 107.5 and then both went to KKDA-FM (K104).
I idolized Dr. Rock when I was in high school.
