My type of CHR

My type of CHR has to play a lot of rock mixed with pop & rap & r&b. I like all pop. Some r&b like Neyo and Nelly etc. The only good rap honestly is Kanye West. He is an excellent rapper. I like how he doesn't use killing etc & all that stuff. It's really good.

Kanye rules. 'Nuff said.

I think we'll start to see a lot of the rhythmic material move away from mainstream CHR in coming years... especially the club-oriented hip-hop. A lot of listeners are starting to get sick of it... something I was afraid of. There's just so much "crunk" a person can take ;D

oh brother, man if these boards are all rap haters then i will just stay at the other board, im sick of people hating on rap on this board

Personally, I love rap. The problem is that mainstream radio is currently focusing on one style of rap, and it's being pounded into our heads at every turn.

If we were all "rap haters", we'd probably be on the Hot AC board. It's simply the overkill that's annoying us.

I'm tired of the single theme of rap. I'd like to hear hiphop about something other than sex hookups, drugs and violence. Kanye is a breath of fresh air. I'd like to hear more stuff like Gnarls Barkley, Common, etc. and less of the more exploitive hiphop for a change.

Actually, in hip-hop today, I hear plenty of songs about sex, hookups, rollin' on 24 inch rims, candy paint, syrup sippin', but not much about drugs and violence (although syrup could be considered a drug of sorts). Count me as someone that really misses the gangsta rap days - I was a really big fan of the rap of that era as well as the acts that came out in the '80s. Whether it's a rapper with lyrics that are positive and uplifting or bleak and nihilistic, hip-hop definitely needs some new blood - it's becoming way too predictable these days.

Successful CHR eras highlight music that typically skews young, but is ultimately mass appeal.

It's easy to argue that 1997-2001 was the last 'era' of CHR that truly did this.

The sooner CHR can return to this formula, the better.

you gotta face the facts that the new chr is now alt and hip hop toghether, chr pop stations wont go back to what they where, what is now is the new chr pop

Another thing with the music, they play the songs way too much. It's insane. I love panic at the disco, but seriously stop playing it so much! Play some recurrents. I like that more.

Well, when the average TSL of the average CHR audience is only about 15-20 minutes, you want to assure that -- every time they tune in -- they are going to be hearing the hits. Hence the rapid turnover times on records. If you don't like it, buy an IPod and cram it full to your heart's content.

I liked rap/rhythmic until about 2003. Anything after is just crap. The music quality is WAY down hill. No creativity whatsoever. Kanye is better then some but he's nothing special.

The only good music being released these days is alternative and AAA IMO.

Any stations that doesn't play Jessica Simpson, Pussycat Dolls or 50 Cent!
