My102.5 Host

Who is that girl/woman that I've been hearing a lot on My102.5 lately? She was on this afternoon and in for Lizz Ryals earlier a short while back, and does weekends. Is she local, voicetracked, what? Never have heard a name.

Oh, BTW: they played some super-weird CCM song this morning, not the MercyMe one. Seemed more of a fit for whatever they're doing on 96.7, IMO.

i heard her and not sure who she is. interesting that know one knows if she is in greenville or not. i would like hearing positive songs on an ac station. i am not sure that the ac format is not missing an edge by playing some of those since they all want to be family stations.

Is she a host for 100.5? I know I've never heard her on WESC. She sounds rather experienced. I have no idea who she is. Seems there would be someone on here that would know something.
She didn't read her traffic if that's any sign, does CC generally have live afternoon announcers do that? I think the announcer does on WESC.

i hear all the announcers on 92.5 read their own traffic reports. i also hear the morning show on 102.5 with a traffic reporter and i know they are live. i remember someone saying here that they could always tell when a program was canned. where is that person now?

Come to mention it....WESC reads the current temps as well. They aren't VT'ing during the day I don't think. I think I know what they're doing.....

102.5 has canned traffic and doesn't give the current temp (at least Lizz Ryals, who is live and very well could) because that makes the tracked afternoons and other times (like weekends) look less obvious. Not that the average listener notices....but just a thought.

The fill-in chick is actually the "program director", if you really wanna call her that. She does a regular shift on 96.7 (for both listeners). MYI sounds completely canned in afternoons now. They aren't pulling off the VT idea very well.

Traffic for the CC stations in Greenville is done out of Charlotte.

Thanks Mark. I was starting to think it was Marne Mason. She's not bad, on-air. And actually, 'MYI sounds pretty good musically, even though the presentation is bad. The guy in the afternoon from KS repeats his name almost everytime he talks. I'd just assume them track the PD in the afternoon.

must be a coincidence that the "program director" of 98.9 is also named mark

I don't think Mark Hamlin ever worked at 'MYI. Last notable PD (I believe) was Greg McKinney. He programmed the fire out of My 102.5 (and no, I don't know him personally)! Remember that they surged to #1 12+ in Fall of 06, right before he was let go. The decline started after his departure.

But, Mr. Hamlin....if you are reading, yank those liners mentioning 102.5's 70s weekends. They don't do them anymore.

By January 20, the Charlotte Traffic studios were closed. DC took over responsibility for the Carolinas. Per a DC-based Clear Channel employee.

i don't think marc hamblin ever worked there either. i don't know the name. i disagree with him. imho 102.5 is much better. greg mckinney is good too. too bad 98.9 didn't take advantage of greg mckinney's departure.

I'm pretty sure this guy who does traffic has worked as a fill-in before, back in the summer. He sounds OK, but not like somebody from some major market.

I'm just thankful 102.5 moved on with the music. I like 1970s music but IMO it was time for them to evolve. Greg worked at WSPA when it was Lite Rock 98 before moving to My, actually.

a current columbia cc employee told me that the traffic reports come from charlotte and the also cover the traffic in greenville and other markets.

I don't want to reveal my sources, but that is not accurate. The Charlotte Total Traffic Network office and studios closed as a result of the January 20th restructuring. In fact Clear Channel Columbia told another traffic information provider last month that DC personnel were handling the Carolinas.

Ha, Friday afternoon was a disaster. They went like this once when I was listening:

Song
Traffic (canned)
Commercial
Song

Somebody needs to get their act together if they want to keep beating 98.9 regularly. A commercial, one commercial, directly in to a song? No jingle, liner, anything. When I hear traffic I immediately think they're going to commercials. I've noticed lately that they go from a song directly in to a break, not sure if it's an automation hiccup or supposed to be that way. I still listen because they have a decent music mix, but the presentation is.....sloppy. Is it "Carolina's Best Mix", "Best Mix of Yesterday and Today", eh?

Are 96.7 and 100.5 this hap-hazard? Surely more Greenville folks can chime in.

dude, you need a better source. terry the guy who currently does the traffic on 102.5 and 100.5 who used to work for metro in greenville and then wspa-tv moved to charlotte. he is still on those stations from charlotte. you should call cc charlotte. it is still open.

Sounds like WWNQ Columbia. They run their legal over the song about 30 seconds before the satellite goes silent for stations to run their Legal.

I don't have any inside info, but that traffic sounds regional to me. JMO.

Oh, and Saturday's weather on 102.5 sounded like they were reading Friday's forecast. Can they not have the voicetracker read the weather for a day in advance? Seems this is always happening.
