What, there's jocks on Sacramento radio?? I havent been able to tell.

Are there bad jocks? Yep...but, you can have the best of both worlds if the station is run properly.
The FM rock stations of yesteryear (and some of them today...right here in Sac), know exactly how to strike that balance.
Agreed that a jock needs to be able to relate to the listener, regardless of age. Classic Rock, Urban AC (V101) and Oldies stations should have personalties that are more seasoned.Starbucks said:Listen to the 20-25 (possibly younger) that you hear on the End, Flash, Zone, .... (Boys from the men, Women from the girls).....it sure sounds it. And that's always been the problem with radio... they don't relate personally with the format at all.

next???
I'm impressed with your knowledege of the history of music, but without sounding dismissive, that was then and this is now.Starbucks said:for example. Put it this way....the development of hit radio and music was not founded by teenage hearthrobs.
Stage5Clinger said:Please, KSEG??? Are you serious? The whole staff sounds like they're a hundred!!! I'm ready for Nakashima to keel over in his chair, he sounds so old. And it sure takes a lot of skill reading the liner notes on the music log.So much for show prep. And that Derrik guy on there and on KWOD, and even on KSSJ!! Hey Curtissssss, can't you hire anyone that's not 60??? Or is that your grand plan to have just one jock on ALL of your stations at Killlistenerscom. I mean geez, let's get real. If I want to listen to entertaining geezers I'd listen to Joey or Big Jim! KSEG just sounds old, tired, and crusty. But I guess if that's what you're in to...

I understand this is now.....my point for that other postee was don't forget THEN. You wouldn't have had a job...even reading liners...if it wasn't for THEN. There would be no Jonahs or Hannah's. It's that this so called cocky 20's jock who probably reads liners and works off of a computer thinks he won't get old and outdated. I hate to say, he's going to be one very dissapointed flash card reader when he gets older.
Top 40 is filled with the Hannah Montana's and The Jonas Brothers of the world and other teen driven artists and music, it's younger...a lot younger. And with the spending habbit's of America's youth I wouldn't be suprised if in the next 5 to 10 years we se advertisers go after that 12+ demo a lot stonger.
Your absolutely right on this one....but the question is will the 12 + be willing to spend on radio. Especially by the time they become a crucial audience. So far it doesn't look it.

You're in the Top 10 huh? Why did I hear the entire city of Sacramento in unison yell "Bull $#!+" when I read that?
