Myrtle Beach ESPN moving to I-100

Just heard that 93.9 in Myrtle Beach is moving to 100.3. Not sure what that means for CHR but it looks like Mix is the only game in town again. Unless Cumulus is going to turn 93.9 into CHR.

I forgot to add that according to the press release...this move goes into effect March 5th.

Smart move by Cumulus. I smell a pre-emptive strike to keep another signal in town from going after Coastal Carolina University sports. It's a nice money-maker for Cumulus and I wouldn't want another group to make a run at the package. I'm 100% sure that CCU will remain on The Team while some of their broadcasts (baseball, possibly women's basketball) will move to 1050AM. They could even pump up the fees when the CCU contract is up (this year, IIRC).

Also, I'm sure that, despite the positive comments, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans have to be seething. Truth be told, moving a 140-game schedule to an AM broadcast after years on FM is a slap in the face.

I wonder if Cumulus might pick up Nick & Artie for the 10 p.m.-1 a.m. slot on Fox Sports 1050 like they did on 1050 KTCT in San Fran. Anyone know?

Lou,

While I'm no longer in the Cumulus building, I would guess that Nick & Artie would be a no-go for now. I'm not saying that it's out of the question. The last time Cumulus-MB decided to air a non-network national show (Robert Wuhl), the idea was not well-received and fell flat on its face. However, I could be wrong.

What interests me more is what happens with I-100. Even if it is moved to the soon-to-be former ESPN frequency (from 12K-C3/145m HAAT to 3.7K-A/128m HAAT), it helps Mix 97.7. Not that the Qantum CHR needed any help in the first place.

Any ideas what will happen to 93.9 and 93.7 after this happens?

It hasn't been announced, as far as I know, but the popular conjecture is that I-100 will move to 93.9 and the 93.7 Georgetown signal will keep the CHR programming.

Wait. It's "Z-93"? That's awfully close to "Z-93 Jamz" in Charleston. Haven't we witnessed this before with "The Wolf" - which had to switch to "The Coyote"?

I may be wrong, but the whole "Wolf" thing was when Citadel still owned "The Wolf"!!! It is all Cumules'es baby now so I don't think they would C&D themselves...

Yeah, you're right, my apologies - I'm just surprised, because pretty much all of the Cumulus CHR's have dropped Billy Bush and I've never seen Elvis syndicated outside of CC...

Funny that the site lists an airstaff now - the i100 site never did for their 2? years on air!

How stupid. That logo is awfully low-res. I wonder if there's another Z at 93.9 that Cumulus owns, and they're just using their logo?

Funny that they have Flo-Rida, Selena Gomez, Chris Brown, etc on the top - hardly "Hot AC"....do they really think they can compete with WMYB, which is much more local and professional?

The site still says "i100.3 - Today's Hottest Hits." That should tell you how much time they spent putting their online presence together. It's just a redirection to the old i100 website, which has been largely untouched for months, save for the new "Z" personality slider banners.
