.Melody is off air on Mix she is now heard on sister station Gator 107.9 she was replaced by some guy named Rob which he does not find the station.

So Steve everything is ok good at Qantum MB. Why are you guys making all these changes on Mix 97.7? The station already sound good but you guys have lost some great talents of the years like Steve the old PD of Mix,Jamie Lee, Marley, Elic and now Melody who next? Most CHR have atleast one female talent doing middays, afternoon or nights.

I am not a huge fan of posting on these things but I will give you some info as best I can...

Steve Williams went off to a better situation for him in Atlanta...as for other programming changes we are constantly evaluating and trying to make better our product.

As for having an all male staff on MIX...there are many great CHRs with all males on air. I actually did mornings on a CHR station that had its highest ratings with all men on staff. As a matter of fact look at the GREAT CHR station in Charleston http://www.95sx.com/sx_djs.html They have a female co-host in the morning and thats it. Besides...have you heard Melody on the Gator...she sounds AWESOME. And its not a bad thing to be on one of the top stations in the market!

Thanks!
Steve

Yea I have heard Melody on Gator but I think she sound good on Mix and good on night on gator! but now i can only hear her on gator but atleast she is still with you guys. But 95SX is a ok station I'm a B 92 fan! But I wish mix can go back to the old days the music was right and it was all local and now the station does not sound good to me mornings all the way to the overnight. Because the new jocks does not fit the station

midday jock-always talk about the afternoon jock ... do they live together or what?

afternoon jock- linerd jock does not really have nothing to say unless it is about the midday jock.

night jock- talks way to much he thinks he doing a morning show in the night and his breaks are to damn long sometimes 5 to 8 mints.

Imaging sounds hot! it's about time for a new jingle pack. it's 2007!
Hot 100 jingles are the best jingles in South Carolina but only thing bad about Hot 100 you can not hear the station that much and the talents are boreing but the Wally B. has a good voice he sound like the guy who host the open house party John.

Question: Doesn't the average FM signal only get out, steady, about 60-75 miles? Especially in NC, SC and VA? Has anyone ever just 'tested' the signal coverage out? I mean, listen to the station for as far out as it can go? I've done it several times and it's incredible at what I found out.

My point: 97.7 may not have the tallest tower in SC (only around 750ft HAAT), but that signal gets out there!! Just from what I've noticed, I can pick it up (at night, that is) near Danville, Va fairly well. I am not sure if this is an atmospheric thing or what, but when I'm out there, I can sit there and have it tuned in and not fade in or out all that much. Solid signal for HOURS. Measures out to be around 215 miles over the air.

the other place I tried to pick it up, with any luck was up in the mountains outside of Boone, NC during the DAY. That's near 230 miles! However there was plenty of static. No fade out untill you reach just south of Asheboro, NC which is about 120 miles, during the day, but it fades very fast when it does.

No other station, that I know of, can reach out to that great of a distance in this area, that is.

Just thought I would bring it up. See what you others think. Any thoughts?

I find it interesting that the only time people post about Myrtle Beach radio is to complain about how bad it is but when the ratings come out it goes completely silent on here?!?!

So be it but I am making it a point to congratulate the staff of our building and the hard work that they put in. The rest of you can keep silent but I for one am proud to have been a part of this.

My last day in Myrtle Beach is Friday Feb. 9th and I just wanted to get that out before I left.

Take Care

Well, Yes...most class "B" (or "C2" stations in the South and west) generally have a usable signal with a decent radio of 60 miles. Class "A" is generally about 40-50, C3 or B1 is 50-60 and class C goes from 70-100 miles. Shoot, I can pick up WSLQ in Roanoke, VA on a Walkman over 100 miles away!

But the reason why you're probably getting, lets say 97.7 in Myrtle Beach rather than 101.7 is because it's a relatively empty channel. Mix in the right atmospheric conditions and yes, you can pick up a station from quite far away (anybody remember the Canadian DX in July/August of 2004?)

Anyway, if I'm not a needed resource, just shoo me away ;D
