Mystery Antenna Site

Center your Google image on 29th Ave and Maryland, and zoom in. Nice long shadows make the towers look taller than they are. Those have been there for 50 years or more.....I think orignally KPHO. For an even better view, go to "www.live.com" and click on "birdseye view." You can then click on "+" and get even closer.

K-D-O-A? ;D

Not quite there yet, but the CCU suits are workin' on it. Nurse Jeff and I think the calls assigned to 7~Ten are quite appropriate!

Back to the topic of the KGME xmttr site. Judging by the satellite photo, looks like someone is taking a short cut across the field. Perhaps security has been breached by some kid in the neighborhood who got a Quad for Xmas!

Really?

I figure they were SW or some obscure band.

Thanks for the info.

Yep, the site at the Loop 202 near Country Club in Mesa is KMIK....Disney. Before that it was KNIX-AM when Buck owned the country station. The site went up in 1980 when 1580 went 24 hours ((( AM STEREO ))) and the transmitter was relocated to the new tower site from the original KNIX studios at Gilbert Drive and Scottsdale road in the river bottom in Tempe.

Earlier calls at 1580 included daytimers KTUF and KYND in the sixties.
