Just announced on the Mark Davis Show. She'll replace Jerry Doyle in the 7PM-10PM slot. Starts next Monday 9/22.

Her show will be delayed by, what, 12 hours or so? I think that people who do prefer conservative talk radio might listen to her some as an alternative to the others during the day but not at the end of the day.

And if you don't watch for 7:00 PM real close you might not notice when Levin stops shrieking and Ingraham starts!

I wonder what Jerry "Mr. Garabaldi" Doyle thinks about this move?? Being swapped out for that shrew....

Laura's show will air from M-F 7p-10p and Jerry Doyle’s show will move to the 10p-midnight slot. WBAP will cease airing the Greg Knapp 10p-midnight program.

At least I dont have to listen to her. They put her in a good time slot.

I prefer Jerry, myself. I don't particularly like Mark Davis. I agree with his views considerably; it's just the way he shadows rush that puts me off.

Wow, gregg knapp getting booted from two stations in this market...maybe the right wingers who listen to WBAP between 9a-mid didnt get his agenda...

Hadn't listened to Knapp before, but my best friend does regularly...and he's what I'd call a moderate Republican...so I assume that's where Knapp's leanings, um, lean. I was surprised when WBAP picked him up from KLIF, since KLIF is more moderate in general itself.

Knapp reminds me of Jeff Ward (590 KLBJ), he's a moderate who has interesting views on everything esp. when it comes to state goverment. That, and it doesnt hurt he(ward) is also professor at UT and former member of the longhorns :)

"Hey, let's take a guy that couldn't draw an audience in afternoon drive, and put him on when there's even LESS people listening"...

Maybe they put him on because his syndicated show was cheap enough, but I never understood why they'd put a guy who was failing at KLIF and put him on WBAP...

Prolly sunk his own money into it...But, my question is why doesnt WBAP seem to embrace the moderate repub view, as most people fall under that view in this country.

I've wondered that MANY times myself. You're right, all the research I've seen puts most people right in the middle, with a slight lean towards conservative. But look at KLIF--never a ratings winner, regular show turnover, etc--and they are about as moderate as it gets in this town. It's almost like you have to be POLARIZING...in other words, go overboard, be extreme...to get attention, and the ultra-conservative hosts are probably happy if the listeners retain (or believe) just 10% of what was said. There's also a level of "preaching to the choir" going on, as the ratings for the area talkers seem to stay consistent every book. No one new's listening in, but no established listeners are leaving, either. But the government doesn't seem to like fence-riders--you have to be for one party OR the other, and most of the talk show hosts play it the same way. Maybe for some folks, that polarization is empowering...it's a group to belong to with strong beliefs (and of course, that can be either side of the aisle; Mike Malloy as easily as Limbaugh) and some folks need that. Those in the middle are often chastised for being wishy-washy, "flip-floppers" and any other negative terms that might force one to pick one side or the other. Me, I'll stay independent and seek out the truth for myself and evaluate things for myself.

Im just curious why all the venom for Knapp and Doyle??

But seriously, how many of your average "joe"- non-radio industry- listeners even realize that what they're listening to isn't local? I used to get asked about one of our syndicated shows all the time when I worked at one of our local stations. I couldn't believe that the people actually thought that this person was live and in studio... But it's not so obvious to the general public as it is to radio folk.
And even if they found out that it wasn't local... Would they really care?

Im thinking its the fact they pay mark davis too much for what he does.

OK. I figured I must've missed it. I've heard the Levin announcement in passing; guess I haven't listened to 'BAP as much recently as I normally do. Thanks!
