Mystery Station on 1110?

There is a religious broadcaster on 1110 that comes in over WBT pre-sunrise and post-sunset. It is NOT the 1110 in Tampa, WTIS, they sign on at local sunrise and local sunset... Heard Rhema for Today this a.m. with Kenneth Hagin at 5:45am, then in the evening Joyce Meyers around 6:30pm and David Jerimiah. If they are supposed to be on PSA or PSSA, that's ok, I can deal with it, if not they shouldn't be on the air or they may be on day pattern... The mystery signal appears to be west-northwest of my location south of Daytona Beach.

Has anyone else heard this station the past few days, any ideas on this would be apppreciated.

Thanks, Bill in E. Central FL

It doesn't look like the details you gave match up with their program schedule, but you might be hearing WYRM out of Norfolk, VA. They're a 50kW daytimer, so you could very well be hearing them during power-up and power-down. That's of course, foregoing the apparent W-NW location of the station. Who knows? I pick up WRVA Richmond best from Michigan when I point my antenna east.

I think it may be a station in AL or TX near the Gulf of Mexico, but I also considered the Norfolk station as a possibility... perhaps they were PSA or PSSA when I heard them...

Will be checking further for a station ID. This topic has come up before...

Thanks, Bill

I caught them on 1110 just before sunset at Englewood beach FL but didn't waste much time with em; was surprised how well the station came in and how poorly WBT Charlotte was (there was a battle as both stations ebbed and flowed)

It could be the station in Bat Minette, Al. I'm 300 miles north of it and sometimes in the evening they come in like a local.

My guess is WTOF in Bay Minette, Alabama. They run 10,000 watts non-directional & 2500 watts during critical hours.

In the past, this station had a bad habit of "forgetting" to sign off at night. When I lived in Orlando (1996-2004), my reception of WBT was routinely trashed by these folks. Very annoying, to say the least.

I heard it while driving through central NC. I **BELIEVE** it is WCKO, Norfolk, VA running a **TAD** over their sunset sign off.

Could it be WSLV Ardmore, Alabama/Ardmore, Tennessee?? They ARE on the air, even though their status lsited on the FCC's website might elad you to think otherwise...

Thanks for all the suggestions. Should anyone hears an ID or other definitive announcement, please post. I enjoy WBT in the am but some mornings here it gets a deal of interference... I am still trying to figure it out, this am I was listening and "Turning Point" with David Jerimiah was on at 7:00am over WBT. Went to Turning Point's website and according to there station listing there is no broadcast on 1110 at that time...

I think I found the culprit, WHOF in Bay Minnette AL, mentioned call letters and program at 8:00pm ET.

Do they have PSA or PSSA?

Pretty sure you must have heard WTOF, Bay Minette, Al.

I was doing a little DXing this evening and heard a station on 1110 running "Turning Point" with David Jeremiah from 7:30 - 8:00 p.m. EST (6:30 - 7:00 p.m. CST). I immediately thought of this thread so I made it a point to come back to 1110 closer to the top of the hour hoping to get a clear ID. I am in Cincinnati and could tell this station was coming in from the south-southwest due to the direction my radio was oriented when hearing it. Sure enough they were still coming in nicely at 8:00 and the ID was:

"You can hear Turning Point at (various times) here on WMOB Mobile and WTOF Bay Minette. And now it's time for news." Must be a simulcast.

Are they broadcasting illegally past local sunset? It would sure seem so. Anyway, I hope this helps.

1110 in Bay Minette is VERY well known to not only NOT dorp to Critical Hours Power, but stay on late, sopmetimes all night. They've done this for YEARS, even thru new owners.

WMOB 1360 is also known not to lower the juice on their 5KW.

I know someone who workedd at what was WBCA 1110, they cant even drop to their 2500W Critical Hours Power, their transmitter cant do it!
