N.E. Market Sizes

2006-2007

7. Boston
28. Hartford
51. Providence
74. Portland
90. Burlington, VT
109. Springfield
152. Bangor
204. Presque Isle

Wow, Providence keeps dropping doesn't it? IIRC-Wasn't it up around 40 at one time?

Maybe some of the market was tossed in with Boston to keep it in the top 10?

Providence has been market 51 for the past couple of years. I do believe Providence was in the 40s at one time. Boston and Hartford are the markets that have dropped. If my information is correct, Portland has made a significant market jump.

The same can be said for half of Burlington/Plattsburgh. Not the entire market is in New England, but it does serve at least 2/3 of Vermont.

Also put in perspective the size of the market area. Out west the markets are huge. San Bernadino County (part of LA Market) is larger than nine states. It has about 1.9 million people.

And poltical things like Boston and Providence if they were out west and both not state capital they would be one most likely. Conversely San Francisco and San Jose if out east are big enough and far enough away to each be their own market.
