I'm not in the New Orleans market these days to know who sounds good and who sucks these post-K days, so I'd like to hear your predictions of the top 5 or top 10 New Orleans radio stations now before the trends come out.

I'll be the first to predict to see WQUE and WYLD be knocked off their perch just due to the max exodus of the demo from New Orleans. Some have said look at que possibly hitting top 5 but forget it being number 1 if ever again.

Look for WWL to probably be numero uno in town just from the numbers it's been pulling in other markets.

Look for all Citadel numbers to be down or even from before IMO.. Martini is a question mark for me , the new KKND will be down as some people like it but is too narrow focused in format (male demoed country/classic rock) than modern rock (which had male and women and the fact that format wasn't shared with anyone except for a few songs on WEZB and WKBU compared to almost going full on against WNOE with the new format), but the one I think you'll see is CC have another station on the 104.1 signal that kicks butt in Baton Rouge but has problems in town.... I know locally (on the bayous of Thibodaux/Houma) I notice more listening to 94.9 (which is furthur away with less signal) than 104.1...Must say either programming or not enough people are aware of the changes.

Actually I was in Picayune a while back and heard Martini. I'm not sure if anyone else was listening, but I was kinda digging it. Heard some stuff you rarely hear on the radio anymore. Not your typical elevator type stuff most standard's stations play, but some really oddball and cool tunes. But of course I'm not like most people, I like something different.

I will say that WWL WILL BE #1.

None of the black community's stations will be particularly strong as they were pre-Katrina. I think FM 98 will be the least affected, 102.9 just a little more, and Q a bit worse. I say this because the African-American population that has returned is older and more affluent.

Of course, Hot 104.5 will be gone and won't be back. I hear that another On Top station (Hot 97.7, Jackson, MS) is on the auction block. The auction doesn't end for another couple of weeks, but right now, the max is bid is a little less than Hegwood originally paid for the station.

I think Rockin' Country will be a failure. There's never been enough audience to support 2 country stations before. Why would this be any different?

I think 'TIX-FM will take a bit of a bump up, and Kool will be down a little.<P ID="signature">______________
