A/C WLTQ has dropped "Lite 92-1" and is now calling itself "92.1 My FM".

Who is their competition?
All of the Tampa ACs: Magic, Mix, Dove, etc. I never understood why they chose a format that's so overcrowded. They should have stuck with easy listeneing or something else unique. Even smooth jazz would be a better choice since 98.7's signal doesn't cover the entire market and some are suggesting WSJT's days are numbered anyway.

And there is WBCG (Beach 98.9), which covers southern Sarasota County and Charlotte and sounds very similar to 92.1 musically.

The station now has a harder edge to it. I've heard anything from 90's alternative rock to current pop. I think it may be even skewing younger than Mix 100.7. Sounds to me like Clear Channel Sarasota's "adult hit music" station targeting females while The Buzz targets men. Sounds like a new "Star".

The website shows no airstaff. Could this be just an opportunity to cut costs?

A little OT, but here in South Tampa, until recently we have been able to (barely) receive WSDV AM 1450 Sarasota and WDDV AM 1320 Venice. For the last two or three weeks, however, 1320 has disappeared. Does anyone know if 1320 is having antenna problems or have changed their power or pattern?

More or less the same thing here near the Bayfront and USF Bayboro near downtown St. Pete; 1450 is just as strong as ever, day and night, but 1320, while not disappearing at this location is definately weaker; it's as though they are on their nighttime pattern and power 24/7.

I checked www.radio.locator.com to see if there was a change or a CP and everything was the same as it has been; have not yet checked the FCC site.

Back on topic, I was listening to 92.1 yesterday and they do have an edge to their music that they didn't have before, sounds as though they are going after a younger demographic.
