Looks like I'll have to reboot this topic, since the old one seems to have disappeared into oblivion....
I'm also looking for a particular smooth jazzish cut that I used to hear on KXL during the last few years of its smooth jazz/easy listening days. Moderate tempo and almost entirely instrumental, but a couple minutes into the music drops out and some male singers start repeatedly chanting "eh-la-la-la-la-oh-la-la" a capella for a couple bars before the music picks up again. The chanting then continues with the music backing them until the song fades out. The instrumental had a structure of "bom Bom BOm BOM/Pa DA da/pa Da DA/Pa DA da/bom Bom BoM BOM". I almost want to say that I think it's either Fourplay (were they even around then?) or Spyro Gyra, but I doubt it's either of those bands. Think I first heard it on KXL around '92 or '93ish, and I think it came out around that period.
Really quick and sloppy attempt at using a software synthesiser to prepare an audio sample of part of the song's melody: http://mistman.pdp10.org/pub/filebox/thesong.zip
The vocal part is represented by the "choir ahh" MIDI voice. And yes, they really do chant "eh-la-la-la-la-oh-la-la" in the song. As I recall, that's the entire lyric.
