Name your favorite stations Alaska

In Anchorage I like KBBO (Bob) 92.1, KEAG (Kool) 97.3, KRPM 96.3. KMBQ 99.7 and KNIK (the Breeze) 105.7, lets hear it from Fairbanks, the Kenai, and Southeast too!! :)

So far I've mostly used KENI (AM) for their morning talk. Still gotta explore the dial a bit and am trying to work with the Radio Free Palmer group to get something going non-commercial. Either as a true FM or on a leased subcarrier. Stay tuned.....Of course most of my work has been in Nome; still doing a weekly show there via MP3 e-mailed. In fact, as soon as I can find my studio stuff in a huge pile of moving boxes I'll get to work on more....

Here in Fairbanks, I like KFAR 660 AM.They're a strange station in that they have the best programming along with the worst programming (paid infomercials, which are fortunately confined to early mornings on weekends). They have Jim Bohannon, Lars Larson (delayed), and Doug Stephan in their talk show line-up. -- Jason

Speaking of Fairbanks radio, what do people in here think of the NNB stations compared to the Clear Channel ones? I mean imaging, music, jocks, commercials, who does a better job overall?

KBRW AM/FM Barrow, AK

I have always been fascinated by KBRW in Barrow, AK. Being; for the most part, a sole service to the area, they seem like REAL public radio. I have only heard them once (on a mini disk their morning guy sent me). I am glad to see they will be streaming soon. I have never been to you awesome state, but I hope to some day...and see it all from Kodiak to Barrow. Have any of you guys every been to Barrow (or maybe live there)? If so, I have always wanted to know, what radio reception is like there. I would imagine KBRW FM is the only FM you would get on a regular basis. What do you get on AM, besides BRW-AM? Do the 50KWs from Fairbanks, Anchorage, and Canada boom into Barrow?

Hmm, let's see...
-KCAW 104.7 Sitka
-KTKN 930 Ketchikan
-KINY 800 Juneau
-KXXJ 1330 Juneau
-kFSK 100.9 Petersburg
KZND 94.7 Anchorage
KWHL 106.5 Anchorage
KFBX 100.5 Anchorage
KGOT 101.3 Anchorage
KXLR 95.9 Fairbanks

I agree re: 92.1 BOB FM. KWHL is also ok. But I really miss 102.1 The Peak. I really wish the AAA format would return to Anchorage.

Although overall, I'd say Fairbanks has a lot of good stations. (On FM, anyway). Juneau, however, is unique...a STRANGE place for radio if you ask me. Anyone else care to chime in?

I haven't explored much of Alaska's dial outside of Anchorage and a little in Fair Banks, but KFAT is quite good. I wish KDBZ was still Modern AC.
