this is all a pre lude to blowing up the station. they are getting killed in sales by their direct competion, and the dropping of live appearances has not helped. plus, all jocks (with the exception of key talent like mj) will be working without contracts and without bonuses
 
Hmm blowing up Mix...To what...Spanish?..A useless Jack format?...I can't wait to see what CC can pull out of their back sides.
 
Just who is their direct competition? I assume you mean Magic. They sound different to me. Magic being mainstream AC and Mix being Hot AC ish. Adding John Tesh was really another slick move to destroy the format. Magic has 10 hours of Delihah daily--yeccch. If Q105 would add more currents than just the Eagles, they would be the best AC in town. At least they sound like they have real personalities who might be right here, or they sure do a good impression of being live and local. Except for mistakes like 'Jack" in New York City,CBS sounds like they are trying to do radio as it should be-----so far . I read somewhere that WQYK has the only live jock on after Midnight. I'm not in radio and never was, but I just prefer good old personality radio and Q105 seems the best in T :eek:ampa Bay for mainstream music. AND I DON"T WORK FOR THEM AND I DON"T KNOW MASON DIXON .
 
Agree, John Tesh is what pushed me to change my preset to 101.5 at night when I am in the mood for mainstream music. I don't listen to Q much but it is a solid station.
 
CC is flipping 740 the Team in Orlando to Spanish, would they do it with an FM here?

(Although, I think they're putting their syndicated LaPreciosa format on in O-Town... isn't this what 820 just picked up?)
 
If CC were to flip Mix, I would look for something more like the "Radio 94.1" in Cincinnati. That's more of a streamlined 90s/2000s "adult alternative" that would keep in competition with Magic, Q, and the 83 other "classic hits" stations in this market. I would imagine it would sound an awful lot like Star 95.7 had CC not blown that up for its watered-down urban.

I also say "if" CC flips Mix because they keep trying to keep that station alive with music shifts and lineup changes. Just heard a new early-midday girl instead of the Shadoe Stevens wannabe they had voice-tracking. Kristy Knight is on 12-3 with Shriner in afternoon drive. I don't think they've had a steady lineup and music programming since 2002 or 2003 when they actually did ok in the ratings.
 
How funny would it be if they flip 101.5 to Spanish, right after 92.1 in West Palm and 740 in Orlando, and all three are simulcasting the same format.
 
Looks like Nancy can't get along with anyone...first Mike, then Jeff. Maybe she's next? Hmmmmmm...I would guess things could get interesting at Gandy.

Maybe it's time to blow the station up. I'm pretty sure Mason and the boys at Q could do a better job at the AC format than Cheap Channel. That would be the one thing that could put a hurtin' on Magic also. Think about it, an AC station with live and local personalities...no John Tesh, no Delilah.
 
Say what you want, but CBS seems to have an edge in our market for doing it right. WSJT is also tettering close to Soft AC with strong personalities. I don't any station in Tampa ,since I've lived here, has ever sounded better than Q105 does now. A younger Dan Ingram could fit right in
 
Umm...If Jeff has been "fired" then why is he still listed on Mix 100.7's website? The "Nancy and Jeff" show is the first banner you see when you go to the site.

When Mike Reeves left, they were pretty quick to take down references to him. Other radio station websites (Clear Channel and otherwise) have done the same, especially if someone was fired.

Carrie left Q105 a few weeks ago but her profile is still up.
 
From what I have seen, that is the exception, not the rule. That also does not automatically make the original post more credible or true. I'll believe it when I have more credible info (or when Monday comes around and they make an announcement like they did with Mike)

The only source to Jeff's firing has been the first post in this thread. This is the user's first post and they recently registered.

From what I read of whom you speak of, Carrie was their news director. Not as big a deal (Sort of like if Bill Cole was replaced as the morning news reader---no offense Bill)

Jeff is 1/2 of a morning show team which has been promoted on TV as well as been (and still being) featured prominently on the website. You see their banner as soon as you bring up the home page.

They still have the Nancy Alexander solo graphics that were done when Mike left so it wouldn't be a big deal to change it.

We'll see what happens on Monday.
 
Jeff really baffled me with those "TBO.com" commercials he and Nancy did. I mean, the whole point of the show was to be a rip-off of the "Scott and Erica Show" out of WOMX in Orlando and be a "soccer mom chit chat" show like Scott and Erica are...

...but you had Jeff do those commercials and he's dressed in a shirt that looks like he's going to a South Beach nightclub and he's got frosted hair. I had no idea that most soccer moms were married to guys with frosted hair who went club hopping.

Used to be, if you took a little stroll down the hallways at FOX 13 & at 4002 Gandy and mentioned her name, you'd have a much better idea of how well she's liked by her co-workers... and, not in the good way. A little joke went like this: She has some photos - or some dirt on someone, and that someone doesn't want it to get out.
