Nancy Johnson

Congratulations to Nancy Johnson for being named Co-Host to the WSTW Morning Show! She will make a great addition to the show.

Wow what a statement hire...lol..When you don't win the ratiings profits go down..next thing a Gm can do to save his butt is make a hire that won't cost much..and I'm sure any raise Nancy got is more than working at WXCY.
For all the people who say Jill was a giggle fest this is worse..Nancy laughs and that's about it..and it's been a while since Dana said anything worth laughing about.
The new management of Mike Reath who is a puppett of Pete Booker..and Mike Yeager..have so much egg on thier face for letting Jill go to WJBR..B to Texas.. and so on they can't gain the confiedence of the people who are suppose to go out and sell the station..so if anybody who could do something on the airwaves was available..they probally wanted alot of money..or were out of work..cause who in thier right mind would want to work in that place now...
Nancy has been a good soldier..but your gonna trott Dana and Nancy out against Mike and Jill....good luck..
Pete Booker the God almighty of management needs to learn that a connection with a radio audience is not made in the gm's office..but on the streets and maybe some Delmarva managers should get out of thier office and country club lunches and learn this..buy thier new book..how to screw up a great station..because no one will be buying the ratings book

Nancy Johnson is going to make a fine addition to the morning show. She's someone that has a pre-existing connection to the staff and audience at WSTW, as a former member of the Traffic Watch team (back in the days with Billy the K!).

B went to Texas on his own accord. Any infighting aside, he took a job that allowed him to run the station his way, so no one can be faulted for that. Jill...sorry, she's better suited at WJBR, where she doesn't have to carry any sort of creative workload. (meaning: Michael Waite does all the showprep, Jill laughs). Over the long term, I really think this is a much better move for the company.

For all the doom and gloom, WSTW is on top of the overall ratings, with the morning show's book showing consistent gains...and that was *with* Jill. WSTW is so firmly planted in the minds of listeners, that it can weather a change like this.

I don't agree with all the moves that the new management has made (nights need work....badly.), I think this is a step in the right direction.

And now, the production director is taking shots at the night jock! Sweeeeet!

Gee, I wonder why morale is so low over on Shipley Road? ::)

Umm...if you are referring to me, I'm certainly NOT the production director at DBC. In fact, I don't work at DBC at all.

Nice try, though. Might wanna check your "sources" before you try and act like you know what you are talking about.

IF WSTW were really smart they would get 'B' back and team him up with Nancy to carry her becuase she will need that move Dana back to afternoons and 'A Game back to nights to give them a well rounded sound..
If WJBR was even smarter they would bring B back team him up with Jill again ,move Mike to afternoons and crush WSTW

Every minute I listen to WSTW it is like a time bomb ticking. (efx--bomb ticking). This could be a mini-series "the slow death of a radio station". You have to admit it is much more fun to watch this from outside the building and wonder who will be the next casualty. My money is on Dana. So it will be Nancy and the unknown male disc jockey for the spring of 08. Delmarva loves to make half-as*ed changes.

Taking shots at the Night Guy... gotta love it...

Last I heard he wasn't the night guy! and has NO intention to be the night GUY. You gotta give that boy credit he working 2 jobs. Your show would suffer tooo! I've heard him Yeah, Nights need work

Let me clear something up. I like Scott Arnold, personally. I know he works two jobs. He does a good job
with what he does. That said, WSTW advertised for the night position 6 months ago (or so) on All Access.
You'd think, in 6 months, that the mgmt. can't find SOMEONE to take over. Even with DBC's policy to promote
from within, you can't figure out a game plan in 6 months?

It was a shot at the management, not at Scott Arnold who, while I don't think is the right guy for nights, still
does a decent job.

THEY haven't hired anyone at nights because it's cheaper to pay part time salary than a full one..the same reason they hired Nancy..
When you can't sell the station..perhaps you can win points with the owners by bringing it in under budget..Nancy I'm sure is making less than JIll was,and Scott gets paid hourly..and under 30 a week no salary no benefits..and then go to the salespoeple and listeners and say 'wow look what we've done"..meanwhile I'm sure there has been no cut in Management money.

pretty sure Nancy is making less then Jill was/ is at WJBR. WXCY must be real happy to have a disruption to the line up with WDSD moving back to 94.7. Delmarva has always had "good" timing. This move could hurt 2 stations at one time. WJBR already did a happy dance, now the CC folks have an opportunity.

As a former DBC employee who certainly has some issues with my former employer, your statement is way off the mark. Nancy Johnson is one of the finest air personalities and one of the best people I've worked with in my career. She'll be a great addition at WSTW and a huge loss for WXCY.

Never said Nancy wasn't a good person..or a good employee..but to take you to the next level...carry a show once in a while..and go against the established WJBR?..(yawn) just like the station

"For all the people who say Jill was a giggle fest this is worse..Nancy laughs and that's about it..."

That's where I take exception...I've worked with her and I know how good she is (an opinion shared by others no longer at DBC who have worked with her). Nancy has been a fixture on middays at WXCY for quite awhile...a show that requires a very interactive listener based request show at noon and she posesses the quick wit and conversational delivery that I can only dream about having. She's good enought to be a major market air talent and DBC is lucky to have her. It's actually nice to see someone make the move from WXCY up to WSTW since so many people in the WSTW/WDEL building have the attitude that WXCY is their bastard stepchild (an attitude I certainly experienced while at DBC).

okay Keith..what is your consultant fee...
No consulting fee here...but if I was a consultant, I'd love to have an airstaff full of Nancy Johnsons on my stations. As far as I'm concerned, it ain't gonna bother me if WJBR beats up on WSTW and if WDSD's move back to 94.7 kills WXCY in Delaware (neither of which I think will happen). I haven't even listened to a Wilmington market station (except for occasional trips to the River to listen to NASCAR) in over a year now, so I no longer have any personal stake in what's going on in the market (except that I like to occasionally check out the message boards). With all that has happened at DBC recently, I'm quite happy now to be out of there even if the choice to leave was made for me. However, I did work with some quality talent and quality people at WXCY and I can root for certain people there to move up to bigger and better things, especially when it is deserved. I stand by my statement that Nancy's move will be good for WSTW and will be a big loss for WXCY. I had issues with DBC, but apparently your issues are still unresolved.

Re: Nancy Johnson/Scott Arnold

Let me ask all of you something. Do you think that if Scott Arnold ONLY had to focus on the night show, that it would be better? Considering the schedule that guy keeps, he is doing an AWESOME job on that night show. I know that if I had to work a 9-5, and then do a 7-12 show every night, plus weekend shifts, I would be toast. Ya gotta give that guy credit. To me, it's a joke that they haven't given him the shift already after such a long audition. But for anyone to insult the guy and say nights at WSTW need work, that is a joke. Give him the shift full-time, and let him focus on that and ONLY that.

Listening to the new WSTW morning show right now. In a word, "Ha". Wait, that's the new co-host line. Congratulations to WJBR, you pulled it off!
