Nanette Fabray, 97, One Day At A Time co-star

No cause of death given, but she died Thursday at her home. Her award-winning career had begun in 1939, but she became well-known in the 1950s.

A true tv star, she had it all. A beautiful personality, both with her acting talent, and her general attractiveness as a real woman. There are few who could show up on your tv screen and you immediately could identify her and identify with her. (I especially liked her as Mary's mother in the MTM show.)

IIRC.....she was nearly totally deaf --- and got cues from other actors on stage by reading their lips....??!
She DID, I believe, also have hearing aids....
Was it "Laugh-In" where she popped out of a cake....semi (or totally!!) nude???
Remember seeing the clip -- blurred out....but can't remember the show it was from......

I saw her at the Oregon Association of Broadcasters convention in Eugene, while I was in college. That would make it 1973. She was standing about six feet from me, a very striking woman!
