Naomi Judd of The Judds

Just received this from the duo's publicist:

Entertainment icon Naomi Judd passed away April 30, 2022 outside of Nashville. Her husband, Larry Strickland, of 32 years will not be making any further statements. Naomi Judd’s family request privacy during this heartbreaking time. No additional information will be released at this time.

This is dreadful news. I became a huge fan in 1985 when I was a part timer at a country station. Prayers to the family. RIP dear lady.
Yes, likewise I became a fan in the late 80's when I was managing WTNT in Tallahassee, FL and The Judds were a big part of our format. Sad news, but we have to look at many good memories.

The statement from the daughters gives the cause of death as "the disease of mental illness." They just performed a few weeks ago on the CMT Music Awards. It seems very sudden to me.
Since the family mentioned mental illness, it may have been suicide. Very sad when people reach the point of no return.
RIP to Ms. Judd for sure, and thoughts are definitely with her family. Hopefully the Hall of Fame has time to pull together a suitable tribute for tomorrow, or they considering postponing the ceremony altogethr until they do.

Not enough attention and support are paid to mental illness in this country, for sure. While no one in my direct or extended family has been affected, I've seen coworkers and a few friends suffer from it, and I've been close with a few who were emotionally or mentally damaged, either because of treatment from their toxic parents from childhood continuing into adulthood, or by past life experiences and it ain't easy. Also, how many incidents involving law enforcement are actually due to some type of mental or emotional issue, moreso than criminal. Many are repeaters as they get lost in the system or there's little to no support available for some.

Like the song 'Love Can Build a Bridge,' Naomi has successfully walked that bridge into the heavens. May she forever RIP and condolences go out to Wynonna and her family. Mental health issues are one thing that has been so overlooked especially in the last couple of years, thrown to the wayside. It's sad. :-(

Country Aircheck reports that the Hall of Fame will continue with their induction ceremony Sunday, and Wynonna Judd is planning to attend.

Following the passing of The Judds' Naomi Judd (Chronicle 4/30), the Country Music Hall of Fame will press on with tomorrow's (5/1) Medallion Ceremony. "We are shocked and saddened to learn of the death of Naomi Judd, who enters the Country Music Hall of Fame tomorrow as a member of mother-daughter duo The Judds," says CMHoF&M CEO Kyle Young. "Naomi overcame incredible adversity on her way to a significant place in music history. Her triumphant life story overshadows today's tragic news. Her family has asked that we continue with The Judds' official Hall of Fame induction on Sunday. We will do so, with heavy hearts and weighted minds. Naomi and daughter Wynonna's music will endure." Inductees announced last year in addition to The Judds are the late Ray Charles, Eddie Bayers and the late Pete Drake.

Heard one of the local country stations up here in the Upper Valley of VT/NH, WXLF/WZLF, play the Judds' "I Know Where I'm Going" this afternoon, preceded by a recorded tribute to Naomi. Nice touch for a station that doesn't usually play the Judds, only a couple of Wynonna's uptempo hits.

I saw something about nami.org (National Alliance on Mental Illness), which was totally unrelated, but it almost looked like naomi.org.
