NASCAR Broadcaster/Vermont Radio Station Owner Ken Squier

NASCAR Hall Of Fame broadcaster and Radio Vermont Inc. Owner Ken Squier has died at 88. He owned WDEV AM/FM, WCVT FM and WLVB FM.

From Yahoo Sports:

WDEV is a quirky little hometown station, with plenty of live, local programming and a wide variety of music. Does Squier have a spouse, partner or children interested in keeping the station going, or is a sale inevitable?

The family had set up a trust in 2021 for the stations, and I believe the Sales Manager of the stations was actually running the stations as of 2017, with Ken continuing to be involved as his health would allow. I do not know what will happen to the stations now, although I would have to assume that there has been a plan in place as his death was not unexpected. I would think the Sales Manager would have the chance to purchase the stations if the family sells.

I think @fybush has several stories on that transaction over the years...

RIP, Ken

Thanks for all the NASCAR memories. You will be missed...RIP!

I always wondered if the tower location for WDEV was by chance of choice......it's built on the side of a hill, with the 3 towers staggered in height --- IIRC, the center tower is elevated several feet above the other two....
Nice low-dial position, though (550)......I really hope someone will keep it going; my last visit there was back in the '70s!!

AM sites can be easily installed on hillsides or hilltops. The bases can be at different elevations. What matters is the electrical height of the tower itself, not its location's elevation.
