Is nascar radio moving to Sirius? I heard a while back that after 2006 they would be going to Sirius. Any info?

most of us who have xm dont care. i dont know of anyone personally who listens to it. its blocked on my radio. just like the canadian news channels..but yes its going to sirius..to which i say..bye bye

most of us who have xm dont care. i dont know of anyone personally who listens to it. its blocked on my radio. just like the canadian news channels..but yes its going to sirius..to which i say..bye bye

You may not care about NASCAR but I can tell you that a very large number of XM Subscribers do. Many folks subscribe to XM just for NASCAR.
From what I understand XM is trying to build up non-NASCAR licensed programming like the Jimmie Johnson show next year to fill the air on a racing channel.
I would be willing to bet NASCAR in 07 will generate more subs for Sirius than Stern in 06.

Although XM invested such a small amount in the way of talent and resources to their NASCAR channel, they did have high hopes for it in attracting subscribers. If XM had spent more on NASCAR programming and less on commercials in NASCAR events, they proably would have been better off. Their advertising got me to check out the product. But, the product convinced me the investment was not worth it. With its limited resources, I don't think XM's NASCAR channel ever performed up to expectations...mine or theirs. Of course, for months now they have known they are "lame ducks", so you would not expect them to make any additional investment in a product that they will be losing in the fairly near future.
It remains to be seen what Sirius will do with NASCAR when they acquire the exclusive rights a year from now, but with the significant investment Sirius is making in rights acquisition, I am hoping Sirius follows through with more original content. Anybody who has listened to XM's NASCAR channel will find that they have only 3 of their own on air people and repeat programs constantly. The same can be said of some of their music channels. 1 or 2 voices heard over and over again.
XM's NASCAR channel is a disappointment. I dropped my XM subscription and will be waiting to hear what Sirius does with its NASCAR effort before subscribing to Sirius.
