NASH announces morning show

This certainly seems to be an ambitious effort. Blair Garner will have 4 country music stars as cohosts, and Robin Meade of CNN will be doing twice hourly newscasts. The show will be broadcast out of Nashville before a live audience, with frequent broadcasts from New York.
So it certainly would not be a surprise if America's Morning Show, as it will be called, will eventually be picked up by some of the other Nash stations.
And once the morning show gets going, I would expect more Nash advertising and promotion.

One thing I've heard is that the four artists won't all appear together. They each have touring careers, so they'll be able to keep their schedule. But AFAIK, none have major US recording deals at this time.

Well, they went big when they finally went with this. Rotating co-hosts is a good idea, IMO, Garner's a name (all those years of country and he worked for PLJ once upon a time) and the co-hosts all have had real country music careers. (I am a bit surprised that it seems Garner's keeping this and After Midnite -- at least his Twitter caption has both -- as Nash is of course Cumulus and After Midnite is Premiere/CC.)

I am guessing he has a contract with Premiere/CC for a given period of time -- I wonder when he is up for renewal if he will keep doing AM.. would be kinda odd not hearing him overnights.. I would think that is one of the longest running syndicated country shows currently around. (I know I remember listening to AM as a kid which was many years ago).

I would think he will likely "track" most of After midnight and naturally do the Morning show "live" (since it will have the option of a studio audience) -- which i guess fits into the whole "Nash media" sorta thing - they mentioned web content, tv etc down the road. I would not be surprised if his new studio isn't equipped for "video" [Even if they don't do that at first].

Radio Ink offers audio of an interview with Blair Garner about the new morning show on Nash.
He parried a question concerning possible syndication by stating he is focused on serving listeners in New York. Garner indicated that there will be an emphasis on country lifestyle, which has been a part of Nash branding.
Blair also evaded a question concerning whether he intends to continue with After Midnight, long term.
My guess is that before Cumulus can syndicate the morning show in other markets where After Midnight is heard, Garner would need to eventually sever his connection with the latter, since it is distributed by a Cumulus competitor. It could be problematic airing the same personality on two stations in the same market owned by different broadcasters.

They'll (Cumulus) shove it down the throats of smaller markets...and sooner, rather than later.

Which I expect to be the case.

Besides, if the show were only to appear on WNSH-94.7 in the New York area, it might have been titled "New York's Morning Show" or "The Tri-State Area's Morning Show".

But it's called "America's Morning Show", so national syndication is in the cards, and perhaps quickly.

I suspect all of Cumulus' local country-music morning shows will be replaced by "America's Morning Show" by year's end.

I'd be curious to hear what the show sounds like. A national show would have pros and cons, but if they can make sure they have a lot of local time for news traffic and weather then it might be tolerable. I think though it would be important for Nash to have a local presence with big local names that people can recognize and know. That might help to deflect any perceptions the show is "syndicated" and improve the station's sound.

I doubt it. Lots of local hosts have contracts. Cadillac Jack in Atlanta just signed an extension this week. Two Cumulus country markets, Dallas and Nashville, have two country stations. So I doubt they'll air the same show on both stations.

As I mentioned in my previous post, there would likely be competitive issues with airing the morning show in the many markets that have stations carrying After Midnight with Blair Garner. Premiere (Clear Channel), which distributes the show could take legal action if Garner also does a morning show on competing Cumulus stations, assuming they have some sort of exclusivity agreement with him.
This is not an issue in New York, since there is no competing country station in this market that carries After Midnight.
Blair Garner will probably need to eventually decide between ending his involvement in After Midnight once his agreement with Premiere is up for renewal, or continuing that show and not being able to syndicate the morning show to more than a handful of stations.

Then again, from what I've heard, his contract with Premiere is up in July. I imagine he already knows how this will play out.

I wonder if the show will become a TV program like the way Imus' show has become.

No doubt that it will be syndicated nationally in a few years. I would guess that Cumulus would put it on one of their two country stations in Nashville within the next year.

More likely streamed, rather than broadcast. Watching a studio while a record plays isn't too exciting. It works better for talk radio.
