"Nash Bash"

Geez guys. As a country broadcaster owner myself, its been 3 weeks. Give it some times to get some legs. Nash Bash is a great promotional stunt to introduce the station, and its not costing them much to bring in these top notch artists. Nashville has been begging for a NYC country station for years, and will do whatever they can to help.

On my drive to work this morning I heard a 5 minute set of commercials. One was even local for a car dealership in Staten Island. So we can all sleep easier tonight knowing commercials (even local ones) are alive and well.

Geographically, not politically, speaking, Staten Island is in New Jersey.

Okay about the ratings - The ratings did come out end of January BUT reflected December and so that was my mistake. Still WFME would pull one shares at some points in the past and still at least pull a .3 or .5 in recent months. By the way stations get ratings whether or not they subscribe but if they do not subscribe they cannot use the data. WFME would not want to subscribe back then. Listeners supported them directly so ratings were not a point for that station. But after alienating Fundamentalists and non Charasmatic Evangelicals with "Church Age is Over" Bull they lost the very people they needed. Anyhow the book for Nash is still a little while away.

Glad to see WNSH is beginning to sell ads. I basically want this station to succeed. Country is far better than Sports or talk on FM. I still feel non music formats belong on AM. Just do not like the idea of Sports or talk on FM.

I'm not sure what this means or what your point is...
My point was mainly to emphasize that Staten Island is the red-headed step-sister to the rest of New York City and geographically fits better with the Nash signal than in the rest of The City.

With no airstaff yet and WPLJ and WABC as sister stations, the station can probably run country indefinitely. If anything as a bonus buy for PLJ and ABC advertisers. When I worked for Citadel, the local stations had to run so much national inventory it was tough to schedule local stuff. I'm sure they'll be able to find some way of making money on a New York country station, even if it's tons of Geico, Macy's and Ace Hardware spots.

Perhaps WABC can dump their national advertisers there that don't want to be associated with Rush, Hannity, Levin and Savage!

It would be their loss.

It has already been tried by the National advertisers, themselves.

here's the public announcement in RadioInk that confirms the list of artists attending the private Event.

must be nice to have a private concert - hopefully the employees get to attend.

but, knowing Cumulus (i'm so glad i dont work for them) they'll cheap out on their employees as usual....

Funny who it's public knowledge that the Dickies are nothing short of a Criminal!! LOL

Hope fully CBS Radio doesn't merge with them - completely!

Don't forget Progressive - I swear, Flo is everywhere! :-X

Believe it or not, I actually won a pair of tickets - to tomorrow night's show... I was actually hoping for ducats to the first night (Monday night). I'm in the process of getting the tickets and giving them to an acquaintance, so there won't be any no-shows on my behalf!

Yup, and Jason Aldean is going to be at MSG. Interesting venue for him.

Miranda Lambert @ Nassau Coliseum

Both shows buying tons of spots on Nash.

Update: I did drop by and pick up the tickets (actually, wristbands) I had won for last night's show. As I entered Roseland, I couldn't help but notice a large table, on which there were hundreds of gift bags with the "Nash 94.7" logo branded on them. I asked the lady minding the table if they were for winners, and I was told they were reserved only for "clients." I'd hate to think half of the "Nash Bash" participants were advertisers, but at least it's good to see them involved with this new country effort in NYC right out of the gate.

The thing I don't understand is why Nash didn't broadcast the concert live on the air. I think it would have been nice especially for the people who applied for tickets and didn't win.

The artists control their live performances. So the artists must agree to have them broadcast, and the station must pay artists the proper union scale plus benefits for the rights, even if it's just for one live broadcast. Very expensive, and artists typically don't like to have their full live concerts heard on the radio.

Typically what a radio station will do is broadcast from the venue, with backstage interviews, and an occasional live song. But the airstaff isn't in place yet. However, I wouldn't be surprised if somewhere down the road, you may hear some "Live From New York" concerts using the Nash brand.
