Nashville TV: cw30?

With the merger of UPN & WB into The CW, I think it's rather safe to assume that the new netlet will wind up on WUXP-30.

Now, what happens with WNAB-58? Without a network, does Sinclair still LMA it?

I think it would be smart of Lambert Broadcasting (the actual owner of WNAB) to put Telemundo on 58, unless a new netlet is formed for the disenfranchised UPN/WB affiliates. Nashville is without Telemundo on cable or broadcast TV, and the Hispanic market is rather underserved in Nashville, aside from that LPTV station in Antioch. (Is that still even on the air? I don't pay too much attention to the LPTV goings on here.)

I think someone out there will see this as a golden opportunity to make inroads into broadcast. Not only will there be one afilliate in many markets now available because of this merger, in some other markets where PAX doesn't own its affilliated station, that station will see a chance to pick up whatever jumps to the forefront because of the whole thing with i moving in. (Although I have to admit, 28's 4-way split on HD programming is pretty cool. A big sarcastic "Gee, thanks" to Comcast for not picking it up in their HD lineup.)

I look for at least one major player among cable networks to put together a fledging network in a hurry. Much more likely for that to happen here than Telemundo. Not enough local advertising dollars to support TV.

If that doesn't happen, maybe 58'll go all sports...

The selfish part of me would like to see WNAB return to its programming from the Speer days. Remember when Bill Boner had a talk show? And Greg Pogue and George Plaster did a TV version of SportsNight? Now, that was pretty cool.

Of course, it'll never happen.

Something that could happen...58 could pick up those Predator games that FSN South doesn't currently air. They did that back in the inaugural season. With the Preds more popular than ever, they need an over-the-air partner for at least a few games now and then.<P ID="signature">______________

TBN 50 has a 5-way split on their digital channel!

Glad to see somebody remembered Pogue's show. As a teenager, I lived for that show. What was it called?

I think it was called Sports Nashville. However I could be mistaken.
