Rumor has it that Nassau fired another employee in Laconia and they aren't done in their Hooksett location...but they are still buying new equipment.

And I thought Clear Channel were murderous axe-swingers. Am I beginning to think Nassau overpaid for their NH properties and now it's coming back to bite them in the posterior?

Dropping like flys, indeed. What is the doorcode today?

Its big city radio trying to make a statement in the small market areas.
Don't be surprised if they do some heavy cleaning over the next few months. I spoke to a former Nassau employee who says the pressure is on.

Where do they cut? For example half the shows in the UV are already imported from elsewhere (Q has Imus from NY and Frank Reed from Rutland, Oldies 104 has Warren Bailey from Concord and Leif aka 'Leon Strong' Erickson from Portland... each are only local in two dayparts.)

Say what you want about Vox, but at least all their people actually lived in the area in which they broadcasted. 'Leon Strong' especially should be ashamed, as someone who lived and broadcasted in the UV for years (and did well on Q106) and now makes little to no effort to sound local, tracked from afar... liner cards like the rest of 'em. Mediocre. But maybe that's not 100% 'Leons' fault...

With the HUGE capital expenditure underway moving the Q tower to Ascutney, you have to figure they'll be down another body or two soon. I heard that the Q's signal wouldn't have the umph it has now when the move to Ascutney is complete. Something about the raise in elevation and the reduction in power. I don't really understand all of the technical mumbo jumbo. That would be the ultimate insult added to injury if it were the case. You just have to figure they're gearng up for a format flip. As far as Leon goes, he has enough experience in the UV to be able to VT from afar and pull it off. If he's not getting it done then they're either over working him or he's just being lazy. Is he doing his Beyond & Before still? That was good show. It was better than the syndicated stuff that makes it to air.

I'm sure that will cost big bux to move WHDQ to Ascutney. This will also help Nassau in other areas.. like their Nashua FM at 106.3. The WHDQ signal should be somewhat improved than what it is now. It should be on a par with 89.5 WVPR which you can hear farther in all directions than WHDQ. Wonder what type if interference this should put on WMTK in Littleton NH @ 106.3. You can hear 89.5 quite well there.
