Nassau Reshuffles the deck quietly

I heard and confirmed today that there have been some pretty big changes in Nassau over the last two weeks in Vermont and Upper Valley.

1. Dave Goddette promoted from LSM in Derby to Director of Sales for Barre and Derby stations.

2. Maine -er Mike Wagonner promoted to General Manager of Barre and Derby stations from classical GSM in Portland.

3. Todd Pronto, PD of FRANK in Barre adds PD stripes at MOO in Derby.

4. Glen Novak leaves Rutland at "The Fox" as station manager/GSM. ????

5. Gary Griffo returns to Upper Valley today as GSM.

I will be anxious to see who replaces Novak in Rutland, he was a nice guy. Not a bad gig, given the ratings and how busy they sound on air.

Maybe some of the recent Nassau departures were orchestrated given all of the "in house" promotions.

and Molly apd at LNH and middays and Zach upped to promotions director. honestly how few people can they have on staff? how is the station selling for them going? any offers yet?

Also, AJ, PD of JYY, is also PD of LNH

Yikes! It's enough of a handful to program 2 stations in the same building, I can't imagine doing it for 2 stations that are 50 miles apart. Hope these guys got a decent raise out of it.

Not without precedent in the area though...don't WGIR & WHEB share a PD? I'm pretty sure they did a few years ago.

I'll bet the decent raise involved being able to keep their jobs...

It's too bad... :-\

As few as possible - better to burn them out quickly so they can drop additional payroll and if need be add people at wages way under the people they loose. Too bad they overspent as soon as they took over without first determining if the market would give them a good ROI. Now it looks like they will have to sell and try to break even but maybe selling at a loss would help get them out from under a huge debt load.

Damn shame... people's lives, families and future are being effected by somewhat questionable judgement by people making somewhat questionable decisions... :-\

Deity,

Perhaps you were in Nassau at one time and were not able to make the cut? Too bad, but maybe you deserved it given your attitude about these good people getting promoted. My guess is they received their promotions out of hard work and merit, and I'm pretty sure that the people mentioned here were bright enough to negotiate a good if not fair compensation for themselves.

My intelligence tells me that Nassau is doing just fine with their investments, Yes, it took a while to weed out the stiffs, but from the looks of it business is pretty good across their system in New England.

As always, this is a business about adapting to change, and those that do prosper, and those that don"t sit on the sidelines slinging mud at those that are just trying to make a living.

Well, it sure does sound like some good people in some good places to your ol' Mary! :-* and you know we all like good changes up here on the farm in Sharon! ;) It's been excitin' and fun to keep watchin' the boyz out in the barn talk of their Saturday night poker tournaments! They know how to shuffle! Yee Haw! Speakin' of shufflin' my big girlfriend at cc and I were just wonderin' what in the heck happened to my manly man Bud Hill the other day. They should get him back next, you know, he still gives this lil' farm gal the tingles!! grrrrrrrrrrrr!

Ms. Mary ;)

Whomever (obviously suits with more money than brains and don't understand the local market) had the bright idea of taking away the most-listened to station in the Upper Valley has shot themselves in the foot. I will no longer listen to 93.9, NOR will I even attempt to numb my intelligence with talk radio. The Morning Buzz is, and always will be, a morning ritual for hundreds of my friends. I can honestly say that there is not one person I know that didn't listen to the show. I never considered satellite radio, but I will consider moving closer to Claremont if I have to in order to listen along with my fellow Lumpas--it's a shame that those of us that can't afford to dump money into pay radio have to put up with the garbage they are feeding us on real radio.

There is ENOUGH (cr@p) radio stations placating the elderly and over-educated in the Upper Valley to keep them all happily crunching their granola and hugging their trees. There are a lot of others in this Valley that actually have a life and enjoy living it to the fullest. The Morning Buzz was just the start to my day, but Greg, Laura, Andy, Roadkill, Kelly, and all the rest were like an extended family that kept the rest of us connected. We talk about them over coffee and discuss the morning's topic at lunch.

You have taken away my morning wake up, my conversational inspiration, and my only rock station that is worth listening to in the entire UV. Nothing else has compared with the station in my 30 years of listening in this area. Rock lovers are enraged. I have heard nothing but complaints and desperation from everyone I know. I work for an oil company whose drivers make it a point to listen throughout the day and now... there's nothing for them either. The programs kept us inspired, lively, and AWAKE throughout the day.

Another listener said she was "disappointed". That is an extremely mild adjective. "Horrified" is closer to home at the outrageous tragedy that has befallen us.
