Nassau unloads longtime GM at WJYY

Nassau (the Jersey boys) does it again. In their quest to do eveything but fit in...they unloaded Britt Johnson,GM who has been there for years. Another great example of the big corporate radio guys coming to a small market and dismantling what was a great local station in the market for years. The station is no longer in Concord NH thanks to the Jersey boys. Johnson has been a fixture there since the joy radio days...remember them? anybody have the scoop on this recent blunder? Who is next?

By the way, Brit spells his name with one "T". You can be sure he will land on his feet. He is known and respected throughout the area. Wouldn't shock me if he wound up an NHAB Broadaster of the Year sometime in the near future. I don't think Nassau realizes the blunder they made.

Brit is one of the nice guys in the business who still cares about programming quality and integrity as much as sales. Rare in this day and age. good luck to him. And yes, good sources say the Nassau stations in VT, NH and now even Maine are not making numbers. No surprise since they paid so much for them and put even more $$$ into them with facilities and equipment (sometimes needlessly) and increased overhead costs. I hear that more changes are going to be made in many of these properties to cut expenses since revenue is below what it was 2 years ago. That probably means more people will be going as that's the easy place to cut. You can bet Lou Mercantati won't take a salary cut to help out.
