To update the WQIO/WMVO situation, once again, in Tuesday's Mount Vernon News:

http://www.mountvernonnews.com/local/100405/wmvo.html

** It's up to Ron Staats if he wants to come back to WMVO, where he's been a station fixture for 38 years. So far, he's shied away from BAS's offer, telling the News that "it’s not attractive to me. They made a decision not to include me in the starting team... they have their reasons. From a business point of view, I understand. From my point of view I do not accept it. They want to include me in community events and things. I don’t feel that’s acceptable."

BAS may need to up the ante, IMHO, in order to avoid a PR nightmare. So far, former WQIO middayer Larry Gilliand is holding Ron's duties.

** Why the Bobby McFerrin stunt? "It was silly but fun and not meant to be rude or irritating," said WQIO/WMVO general manager Jeff Neidert. Jeff said that it was BAS' way of making the ownership transition and to calm people's fears. Some listeners really wondered what - if any - stunt was being pulled.

** John Tesh is officially gone from WQIO. BAS has made no indication that they want him back at all; so it's ABC's Starlight channel in the evening.

** Paul Harvey is temporarily absent from WMVO. Apparently, his contract with the station lapsed. But BAS is trying to get him back on 1300.

** The News will publish updated lineups for WQIO and WMVO next week.

** Type in both www.wqiofm.com and www.wmvo.com - domain names maintained by CC - and you will see that no more website exists for either "93Q" or WMVO.

Im sure it's all about money, I am sure running ABC's bird and other cuts are to save money, Radio is a business, it's all about the bottom line, face it, Clear Channel, despite with voice tracking had more local feel with 93Q and WMVO than BAS is doing at the present. Sure it stinks but budgets are unforutally the bottom line and I am sure BAS needs to build up a sales and $$ base before they can go more local.
