hopefully its better than the recent movies they put out, i'm just glad there is a new comedy station. this is from orbitcast...

It's Official: National Lampoon Comedy Radio on XM
Filed under: XM XM Radio Talk

National Lampoon on XMWell the official word is out from XM Satellite Radio just as we suspected - "National Lampoon Comedy Radio" a 24-hour comedy channel debuting on XM’s programming lineup in October.

With a stable of "comedy jocks" hosting the channel, National Lampoon Comedy Radio (ch 154) will include original programming spanning from stand-up and satirical news and sports segments to parody songs and prank phone calls. The channel also will include character sketches and regular interview features with comedians and celebrities.

According to a blog post on National Lampoon Radio's MySpace page, October 1st will be the launch date.

Okay, I've given it a chance and I'm wondering why I need this channel. Number one, it is not XL so all the bleeping completely ruins any tape. Have you ever heard a 5 minute Chris Rock routine with the bad words beeped out? Unlistenable. Also, I have not heard anything funny other than stand-up bits that I can get from other channels. The supposed song parodies suck. Then, last night I heard Robin Williams visiting with some host giving his tired old routine with phony laughter from the host.
How many comedy channels does XM plan to provide? This is at least one to many. Too bad, because I used to enjoy National Lampoon (the magazine, not the lame movies).

I'd have to agree. I haven't listened too much, but the few times I have checked out the channel, I didn't hear anything I couldn't get on another comedy channel. If they were going to use the bandwidth, I'd rather them have brought back Special X. I've actuallly listened to that channel online when I'm in the mood for something a little off the wall. It'd be nice to have that option on my My Fi when I'm out walking the dog.
