What are the odds of even winning a nationwide radio contest?

Potential prize winners will be determined as described in Section 3 above and will be notified by telephone at the time of their calls. Entrants will be competing with listeners from up to 65 stations in up to 30 radio markets across the United States. It's funny that as the rich get richer the prizes in contests and the pay for surveys is getting skimpier and skimpier. Used to be that companies paid good money for focus groups and gave away something of value for customers taking the time to answer music surveys or questions about their restaurant experiences, etc. Now, people's names are entered in drawings where they *may* win $1000, but likely won't because it's only one chance out of 50,000 or whatever entries.

I've been phoned from time to time over the years for radio focus groups. I'm not sure why, but I was. Anyhow, at one point they were paying $100 to $200 for a couple hours of my time. And the phone surveys, they'd often send you $5 or participating or what have you. Now, they expect you to do it for nothing or for some silly "gift certificate" that is only redeemable for garbage.

The 1% are getting greedier and greedier...
