Nationwide Geraldo

How many affiates will the new Geraldo Net show start with next month? Will any be non-Cumulus stations? According to a Facebook post, looks like Joe Crummey will be filling in for Geraldo in his old 10 to Rush time slot on WABC in NY this week. Strange bedfellows??

Why go nationwide when he isn't even good locally. He contributes nothing at all on any subject. What are these people thinking when they should have left well enough alone with the programing. Cumulus is to blame for this entire mess. From the beginning when Geraldo was hired, many people complained about him. So now you have two current messes that should never have gotten off the ground. GET RID OF THEM BOTH = PLEASE.
WE ALL STILL MISS THE ORIGINAL RED EYE WITH DOUG MC INTYRE. THE NEW ONE IS SO BAD YOU JUST CAN'T LISTEN.

No, strange bedfellows would be Joe & Mike filling in for a nationally syndicated Geraldo show.

Anyone hear anything aboput affilates for this show?? It's supossed to start sometime this month no? Will it start with anything besides WABC and KABC or will Cumulus use thier owned stations to get it some play around the country? Will they do a one/two with Huckabee or perhaps IMUS?

According to the press release, Geraldo's show will actually be three hours (9 AM-12 Noon ET), as opposed to the two hours (starting at 10 AM) heard on WABC/NYC. I reckon this will be KABC's new morning show?

My thought too. I'm expecting to see the press release over the weekend. I hope Doug McIntyre lands on his feet.

I wonder if they will continue the kind of helter skelter format they now employ on the local show (news anywhere from 40-45 after the hour, phone calls all the time even with guests, etc) or will they go to a more rigid format when they go national? Will it be the same "Rush" format that everyone has done for the last 24 years or will it be a different take on talk radio?? I know that in NY Geraldo depends on his WABC newsman very much. Wonder if the national show will employ a side kick? Well, I guess we will find out Monday! Wonder how long IMUS will continue to do the 9AM hour on WABC before they clear that hour in NY too?

Probably once Fox Business agrees to start the Stuart Varney program at 9 AM as opposed to the current 9:20...

As the Imus show is mostly a re-run of the first 3 hours, ending it at 9am makes a lot of sense.

I'd say a lot of what happens with Imus depends on what goes on between him and Fox. Do they keep him on or do they replace him? If they keep him on how long a contract? If they keep him, will they take him till 9AM rather than the present 9:20? All questions that will need be answered between now and the end of the year. Heard him last week promoting his golf outing as "the 5th and perhaps the last"...on air negotiations or does he know something we don't?

Imus's contract with WABC/Cumulus ends this year, so what happens there will be the catalyst. Maybe he renews, or maybe he packs it in and heads to the ranch for good.

If Imus leaves, then perhaps WABC will go with a local morning show (that will be a surprise) and run it until 9:00. Geraldo (who has no business on radio to begin with) won't get the 9:00 hour if Imus stays. I would assume whatever Fox Business does will be dependent solely on what Imus does.

I believe that the Fox contract is up first. I don't see IMUS staying at Cumulus for anywhere the money that he signed with Citadel for. If he stays, it's because he needs an outlet and a way to keep the ranch in view. Geraldo (along with Huckbee) are Cumulus stars and Imus is a Citadel player. I say that if he stays it (1) depends on Fox and (2) how cheaply he's willing to sell the show to Cumulus and Geraldo gets 9AM clearance everywhere!
