NB Pirate simulcasting WPRX 1120

The New Britain pirate on 90.1 has been simulcasting WPRX 1120 for some time now but I have not seen it mentioned on this board. The signal is quite good and in stereo. I wonder if WPRX is running the pirate or if it is a third party. I do see a little whip antenna on the old Harris building on 321 Ellis Street where WPRX's studios are located. Any speculation on where they are transmitting from? I don't think I've ever seen WPRX in the Hartford book.

Wow! You're right! I'm getting the same thing at my south end home, too. As for the Harris building, maybe they've got something up there by the fifth floor? I can check when I go by that building on Sunday morning. (For those coming to New Britain, take Exit 25 off of CT Route 9 from either direction and take a right.)

Not on 90.1, there isn't. 1120 is a commercial station, it couldn't legally be translated on a NCE band translator.

The only 90.1's in CT (CP or LIC) are:
W211AI 90.1 Stamford, a translator for WSHU
WRXC 90.1 Shelton (On the Comcast tower) //WMNR
WGSK 90.1 S Kent //WMNR
WECS 90.1 Willimantic (On the WILI-FM tower in Lebanon) EastConn.

I mentioned this in the past, the NB 90.1 pirate has actually used calls from WECS in the past possibly to throw people off.

To follow up on my own post here: I walked past their building today. There's a short 3 or 4-foot antenna on the roof's western edge, with a hastily strung coaxial cable heading to a north-facing fourth floor window. Hmmmm! Interesting! :-\
