Who Will TV/Radio Broadcast Oklahoma New NBA ( Outlaws ? ) Team ?

Prediction: Radio rights in the OKC market will be held by Citadel, but not necessarily on The Sports Animal...Clear Channel will obtain rights for the Tulsa market (AM 1300 and AM 1430).

Prediction: KSBI will make a run at the TV rights, but will be unable to afford. Rights will go to KAUT/KFOR. In Tulsa, Griffin will secure rights for KOTV/KQCW.

Of course, my predictions are rarely right.

When the Hornets were in OKC, I believe they were on both KTOK and KHBZ. Who gets the ex-Sonics and for what price will likely depend on how well the Hornets rights did. I agree that Citadel should have a good chance to get them, especially with the Sports Animal upgrading its FM stick in the very near future.

In Tulsa, I remember seeing a Hornets game on cable channel 3 when visiting my mother, but I don't think they were on any local channel.

I don't think you would see the CBS affiliate in Tulsa pick up game broadcasts on a nightly basis. Though ionosphere you hit on something that is perfect...it would be BRILLIANT for a CBS or a Fox (in Tulsa) to pick them up and stick them on what ever is on cable channel 12 and 10 and when its a BIG game put them on the main station.

I will say the Animal gets it if they want it... seems like the CC guys in OKC will work their asses of for the NBA so I guess we shouldn't be suprised if they do pull something off like they did with the Hornets.

When the Hornets were in OKC, everyone knew (unless you were out of touch with reality) that the Hornets were only in town temporarily. There's a huge difference between a temporary team and one to call your own. Whoever gets this team will have to fork over major money for it. More than was paid for the Hornets. You think Cheap Channel is going to dish over a bunch of cash? The Tulsa market will have to pay less, which is why I think it is more likely for CC Tulsa to get rights than CC OKC.

You are correct, no local station in Tulsa aired Hornets games. But again, it was not truly a local team.

I agree, KOTV will not have nightly games. They would carry mainly weekend games or big games (in my hypothetical world). KQCW would carry the rest. (Cable channel 12 in Tulsa IS KQCW).

And it goes to WWLS Citadel OKC. 5pm today Clay Bennett will be on-air to announce it. All Access has reported.
