NBC-5 (Fort Worth) unveils new news set

Is this an old story or something? I hadn't even noticed. On nbc5i.com (KXAS-TV's website,) there's plenty of photos showing construction of a new news set (which, curiously, looks similar to the one at WFAA's Communications Center [but not their Victory Park set.])

My question is, is this new set ACTUALLY at KXAS's Broadcast Hill studios, or was it built at the NBC Miami ShareCasting hub in Miramar, FL (where all master control processes, including robotic cameras, are operated remotely for Ch 5's newscasts)? I guess you could green-screen the local anchors onto a Florida set and cut off the last of one's local control room and floor crew staff.

I watched NBC5 this morning (almost always a painful experience) and the new set looks really nice, both on the SD set in my bedroom and on the HD in the living room (where it really comes alive). Mike's right -- it does look a lot like WFAA's Communications Center set.

One problem: there's something about the new set's lighting that makes some of their anchors look a lot older. The guy who anchors the morning show looks like he's got gray hair. (watch and you'll see) The guy anchoring the saturday 10pm show looked a lot more wrinkled than he did before.

I wonder why they changed it already. They did a makeover in the fall when the newscasts went HD. I agree, change some of the faces, not the set and maybe I'll watch it more often. ;D

Jane will never go anywhere. Mike has bee naround for a long time. Regretably they wil lstay. David will remain where he is as well. Jane doing news is like watching shakespeare in the park during a thunderstorm
