NBC apparently not clear on Megyn Kelly show direction

Kathie Lee & Hoda were also MIA. But with a national tragedy, I could understand. They'll probably be back tomorrow to talk about the mass shooting.

You do know that applies to some people on both extremes of the political spectrum, right?

She had a specific show to do on FOX News. She has a different show to do on NBC. Let’s see how she does that rather than judge based on what another employer wanted out of a program on its schedule.

Of course I do. It's just that in my lifetime, I've seen more republicans than democrats sink to depths I never imagined they would. The only ones I have been able to tolerate since Hasslleback left, have also been hosts on The View. None have lasted a full season, which is a shame, as they could have shown the nation that a republican could still be a reasonable person.

And true enough, NBC stuck with their main anchors during today's Las Vegas breaking news. Megyn Kelly nowhere to be found in the 12 noon EDT, 9 am PDT. This seems to be confirmation that Megyn will not be utilized for breaking news. Wow.

Seems like a broad assumption to make on the basis of one event. Let’s see how things play out over time.

Kathie Lee & Hoda were back discussing the tragedy a bit today. Also The View started with a montage of pictures from the tragedy, and the lights were dimmed.

I don't see how she'd be having any adverse impact on the first two hours. I suppose it could be argued if her show isn't doing well that it's impacting the lead in for Kathie Lee and Hota, but I find that to be a dubious argument as Tamron Hall's ratings were weak. Megyn isn't likely to prove to be the pick up for the Today brand that her contract suggested she should be, but neither is she the downfall of it. The brand was already having issues. Look to the one constant related to that brand for the last quarter century, other than it being on the same network, and a change in that would likely represent an opportunity to improve ratings.

I can believe it. For years, I've read about how "liberal" NBC is supposed to be, but they hire her? That, and the fact that she is not the kind of person one wants to see in the early morning, probably are why the ratings are dropping. She just has the kind of face you want to smack. I, for one, don't even sample her, whereas I used to sample that hour, after Ryan joined Kelly on ABC. Now I just do house chores and eat breakfast during that hour.

Take your pick in Yakima at 9am: Megyn Kelly's show, annoying Kelly Ripa or 'I-can't-believe-he-got-a-second-season' Harry Connick Jr. Oh, and trash talk Steve Wilkos. Thank goodness I have a substitute teaching job now, but unfortunately there are days where I have to take a half-day or nothing shows up...

TVs have off buttons, though.

Never seen his talk show, but Connick is a very talented musician and actor.

He is a good musician, but he just doesn't fit as a talk show host IMO. His ratings weren't that great either compared to the mainstays of Dr. Phil and Ellen DeGeneres.

The tabloids are screaming that either Kelly or Lauer will be fired due to turmoil in the NBC morning franchise. This is ridiculous, as both have good contracts in place. However, there does seem to be some major infighting within the network as how to proceed. The bottom line is the network needs to fix this problem quickly. It is currently a clusterf--k.

"Good" contracts in broadcasting usually have outs based on ratings performance.

Fire them both. Replace Lauer with Willie Geist. Slide Kathy Lee and Hoda back an hour to the 9AM Eastern Time slot and give 10AM-11AM back to the affiliates.

TV Guide has given her a Jeer because she doesn't have the ability to interview celebrities. I guess that means her talent is people in politics.
