NBC Cancells "I-Village"

Ah, now there is room in the schedule for that fifth hour of Today.

And after Days Of Our Lives leaves in March 2009, they can add Hour #6.

Such innovative thinking !

Actually, "I-Village" is a syndicated program, seen only on NBC's O&Os. Most likely those stations will replace the show with other syndicated programming.

I had never even heard of it until this post. "I-Village?" Sounds like a communty of iPod users or something... Is this place you speak of located in California? ;D

IVillage.com is older than the iPod/iHome/iPhone, though.

The show looks like a long infomercial, yet it isn't. WVIT-TV (NBC) channel 30 of New Britain/Hartford airs it at noon. I really wish that channel 30 would move their daytime news from 11 AM to noon, to better compete with the noon news on CBS 3 and ABC 8. However, they only recently moved that same morning newscast from 10 AM to make room for hour #4 of Today.

Some time in the near future:

"Coming up at 7 AM Today followed by NBC Nightly News at 6 PM!"

Considering the state of daytime TV, that might actually be an improvement. ::)

NBC could always broadcast news during those hours from MSNBC or CNBC. But in this day most people have cable. But it wouldn't be a bad idea.

iVillage is a website dedicated to women's issues. It is a sister NBC Universal property. I suspect they were shoving this show down the O&O's throats like Fox does with Mike and Julliet, and they did with Geraldo Rivera (I am glad that show tanked). They probably didn't want to force it on the network (NBC) because it was destined to fail.

Apparently, 13 people were also laid off from the website. I guess the recession is to blame.

LOL

Then they can change the name to "AllDay" ;D

Look, it's not "Julliet" or "Juliett" - it's just "Juliet".

And clearly nobody predicted "Mike & Juliet" to overtake "Regis & Kelly" and be number one with a bulett. :D

I thought the Chicago noon thing was decent idea (something not NY or LA for a change), but the idea of putting 2 former Apprentice cast members as co-anchors was a dumb idea.

Maybe they can be Today in the early morning, try a TLC cable like programming format in the daytime, with Martha/Ellen/Dr.Phil/Oprah syndication depending on the market at 3-4, local news, evening news, Nancy O Dell, and back to really bad reality TV in the evenings, and that's their model. I think NBC's most valuable asset is their peacock logo and chime, but even that's not enough.

It is not certain if DAYS will go in 2009. It's speculation, not confirmed. If the ratings go up and stay there by next year, NBC will make the decision. I would hope that they keep the show, just to hold on to a piece of their history. As of now, the show is keeping considerable ratings and the show's quality is getting better.
