NBC Chicago Nonstop now on the air

Chicago Nonstop went on the air at 1pm. It replaces the weather radar on 5.2, that's been on WMAQ 5.2 for nearly 2 years (weather radar only, & doesn't count the NBC Weather Plus before that). It's modeled after NBC New York Nonstop on WNBC New York, with programming aimed at Chicago. It'll be news, entertainment, & lifestyle programming. From what I've watched so far, I'm not impressed. Some of the programming on Chicago Nonstop will be Nonstop Foodies Chicago, LX TV: 1st Look Chicago, The Rundown, & Nonstop Scene Chicago. I hear The Nate Berkus Show will also be on Nonstop at a different time than when it's on WMAQ 5.1, which is 2pm.

I just hope WMAQ gets the bitrate fixed so it doesn't look grainy. Our luck, picture wise, it'll look bad for the entire physical channel & not just 5.2 & 5.3. Now let's see how long it'll be before Nonstop programming is listed in the TV Guide (both online & print editions).

Is it widescreen? Is there any actually news on the channel?

I so far haven't seen any actual news. I've seen shows like Talk Stoop, LXTV, Foodies Chicago, and reairings of the Nate Berkus Show. The shows themselves are widescreen, but the channel itself is not widescreen. Whether you have a widescreen or SDTV, the picture on the TV is 4:3. While it looks fine for those with older SDTV screens, it looks horrible for those with widescreen TV's. NBC could have made this channel a 480i widescreen channel, but didn't. I don't like these SD channels that have widescreen programs, bu make the channel 4:3. WTTW also annoys me with that setup with their WTTW Prime channel.
